It seems to spread into several countries and there are 650 reported cases if I am correct. Are you afraid of the swine flu? My wife told me that if this continues we have to cancel our visit in Uk this summer even though our flights are already booked? Is the swine flu threat affecting your daily life?

I am a bit worried about this one. It is spreading very fast here. They have passed out huge bottles of sanitizer at work and have requested everyone use it regularly throughout the day. I don't think I will let it rule me though. I will just be cautious.

Hi JenInTN, I'm in TN also and the news so far is no case in this state. I think that people need to go about their normal daily activities. As is always the case we need to do proper hand washing, using soap and hot water. If you are sick, stay home. If your kid is sick, keep him or her home. This is good practice all the time. Germs are spread easily.

Ronaldinu,
I think most teachers fear swine flu because we have such huge crowds of sniffling kids around us. Here in South Florida we just had our first verified case, and that school is closed until it can be thoroughly scrubbed anddisinfected. It's a bit strange, though, because the "regular" flu kills hundreds of people for each victime of swine flu. I guess the trepidation comes from the fact that our flu shots don't prevent swine flu, and they haven't developed a vaccine as yet.

Hi ronaldinu,
I think it should be ok by the summer when you come over to us, it will be controlled by then, I am not too worried about it or otherwise I will not venture outdoors. Wish I can meet you when you come over but I don't think you are coming my way as I am in the south, not far from Gatwick airport and you are off to Newcastle way up north?

Personally my stance is this, it's not worth worrying about, we can't do anything but enjoy every day we have, none of know how many tomorrow's we have and in actual fact it makes us appreciate what we do have and not to take things for granted and to bless each day and treat it as our last. Didn't we have all the flare up over bird flu???? I seem to recall it's the same scare. If everyone stopped going anywhere the implications would be far worst and the repurcussions if no one travelled or everyone lived in fear? You are probably at no more risk going to UK than you are going to any other country with this swine flu! You could quite easily get it living in USA or Iraq or New Zealand, I would still go my friend, life is too short!

No I am not terribly worried. Although I probably should be as I have a chronic illness that may not be very smart to have if I get any kind of flu. I think that it is not more dangerous than an ordinary flu. It will just make more people ill than a normal flu

That is a good stance to take, I think it's making people panic and the last thing we need is a panic driven country, didn't we have all this the bird flu? I know we need to know the truth but scaring people is no answer, we have to be vigilant sure, but we have to put this in the right context

India is far away and is out of danger of this disease, but its really a matter of worry that such diseases take away lives in a sweep. May God take care of the affected and the people who have lost their lives, may God let their soul be in peace, thatz all we can say, though not affected physically...our hearts are affected...

I am not overly worried about the swine flu. The regular flu kills tens of thousands of people every year and no one makes a huge deal out of that. Not everyone is dying when the contract the swine flu either so as long as you are healthy, you can fight it off and recover 100%. I think the panic over the swine flu is being caused by government to make the people panic and give in to stricter regulations and become even more of slaves than we already are. It's about control, and this panic over this flu is certainly causing the Gov to have more control over the people.

It's not affecting me at all. The only worry I have is that my grown sons might get it but they are strong and healthy--I just wish I was close enough to take care of them if they do fall ill.
I've prepared things in case I do get it, have over the counter meds for the symptoms and some electrolyte replacement drinks. Otherwise, life continues as usual. I hope your family and neighbors escape it, flu can be miserable.

I'm not really afraid of this. Of course, I may take extra precautions such as washing my hands more frequently and thoroughly, as well as continuing to practice good hygiene overall and perhaps trying to avoid those who might be sick.
So far there are 15 suspected cases in Maryland.
Although I may take extra precautions, as long as I am aware I think living in fear is no way to live!

No!! First of all, I have a strong immune system. I never even get a cold, as we all eat properly, cut back on stress in our lives and work on getting good sleep. None of us smoke (my husband quit last year as did my daughter when she got pregnant 3 years ago and I never did), I hardly drink, etc.
Next, it is not killing people more than any other type of flu, it very treatable and it is mostly all hype. I have spoken to people in the medical field and they also feel that it is a media frenzy.
What they should be doing is teaching people how to be disease free by changing their life habits. It does not affect me in the least and IF I did have any symptoms of getting ill, I would go to the dr, asap and be tested and get tamiflu, IF, and I say IF I did, which I will not.

I particularly don't feel affected with this and nor people closed with me... But i heard that here in Brazil, some people that arrived from the influenced region are being followed by the authorities of public health. Nowadays are only suspects neither victims was confirmed...
By other side, the OMS changed the nickname of this flu, because many people mistake that with meet of pigs... Today that flu are named A Flu...
Cool...:)

No I'm not scared of swine flu! I think it is overblown! The media is making more out of it then it is! People are overacting over this! I know there is swine flu out there but it tsn't an epidemic disease! It is causing people to have a panic epidemic! This is my point of view on swine flu!

Well yes i am afraid of swine flu as i have heard it "can be" fatal. I worry for my sweetheart as he has to go to different places. Of course it is affecting our daily life for the time being but i guess they find some vaccination or something for it as we can get rid of it and continue with our life normally.
