Do your cats ever act weird?

This week, we moved to a new house. Well, it's not new, but it's definitely new for us. And now, all my cats are acting really weird. Pretty much, they just lay around all day and do nothing but sleep. I don't remember them being that inactive in the other place. Well there is one big difference here. In this house, we have carpet and in the other we had stone tile floors, so they couldn't lay on the floor comfortably. Most times, they would scrunch up on the back of the couch or lay on the bed.
I'm not really worried. I hope it's not some sort of cat depression. They don't seem unhappy.
Then again, you can never tell. It's not like cats can smile.
Do your cats ever act weird? Does it worry you?

I don't think there'll be anything wrong with your cats. They're probably enjoying the comfort of their new home and getting used to it. They tend to "lord it" a little around the home. The only time I saw a cat act weird was when my grandson had passed away. He sat at the bottom of the stairs, staring up and the hair on his back stood on end. I think my grandson's spirit might have been up there.
Brightest Blessings.

Weird seems to be a lifestyle choice for most cats! When you think you've got their behaviour sussed, they go and do something peculiar. I find the spookiest is when they get fixated on something that you can't see, or suddenly have on of those mad half hours when they chase their own tail.
Your cats sound like they're just taking advantage of a nice warm floor to lie on whilst they get used to their new surroundings.

My cat likes to run around the apartment, and literally bounces off of the walls, making the loudest yowelling around, while doing it. LOL It's actually pretty funny when he does that, as long as he doesn't crash into something, and knock something over. LOL When things are left unhit, it's pretty funny.

If that is weird then my Tia is most definitely weird! lol Then again she is getting to be an old lady nowadays and likes to take it easy! Sometimes it takes our pets a little time to adjust when we move home - sometimes they are hyper checking out the new place other times very fussy about it, they'll be fine I am sure! Hugs xxx

That sounds like they're worn out from the move and with their inspecting everything that's new to them. Cats will wear themselves out during a move from anxiety and curiosity. I'm sure they'll be back to their old selves in no time.
Also, I found out that cat and dog urine has ecoli and salmonella in their feces so that's another good reason to have your cat checked out for they can make you and your kids very sick.

My cat changes his mood all the time...I think it's just them adapting to their new enviroment and getting used to the new surrounding...My cat since the weather has been getting nicer is coming out of his sleeping shell and going wild lol til he tires himself out!

Yes, my cat is completely weird and crazy, hes always doing something strange and annoying like flipping on the light switches while I'm asleep or meowing really loud, and sometimes I wish my cat would just lay around and do nothing, because hes constantly doing something or looking for something to do, he brings me his favorite jingle ball and drops it at my feet he dose this so I will play fetch with him, yup my cat can fetch like a dog, and I didnt even have to teach him, he just knows how to do these things all by himself.
Well anyway maybe your cats are just a little stressed about the move, most cats dont like it when somthing changes, becuse cats are creatures of habit, my cat was really stressed when I first moved to my apt a few months ago, but now hes back to his normal crazy behavior, so your cats most likely are just going through a faze, so enjoy the peace and quit for a little while, because its not easy living with a crazy cat, dont get me wrong I love my cat very much, but he certainly is a hand full, and I just have one lol.

Oh, and another weird thing my cat does... sometimes when he wants to drink water, he will dig in front of his dish. I don't understand. He also kneads blankets, pillows and people more than any cat I have ever seen.
I have taught him tricks, like a dog. Sit, stay, stand up. He listens to me even if I don't have a treat in my hand. So weird. Everyone that I show it to is amazed!
Next I think I am going to teach him to use the toilet.
There he goes meowing again.

That's funny that you ask - my cat is actually acting a little weird right now! He has been walking around and just meowing all morning. He is not a very vocal cat, the only time he meows at all is if you step on his tail or something. He is sitting on the table looking at me right now, and purring, I think he just wants attention.
He does a lot of other weird things, too though. Like there is this one thing, he will stand up and hold the threshold of one of my doorways, then he will jump, while holding on still. Then just walk away like nothing happened. I have never seen a cat do this. He does it every once in a while, and most of the time it is when no one is looking.
My cat is a character though. I love him.

I think your cats hasn't adapt to the new place yet, they'll be okay soon.
There's no reason for my cats to behave unusual since nothing out of ordinary happened. But there was time when my cat nearly hit by a car. He ran home and started miowing like telling us what happened. He was high with fever for a day after that.

It's a rule in my house... I cannot have "normal" pets...ever!! I had one cat who would not walk on the floor. She traveled from one piece of furniture to another!
One cat coudn't hit the litter box even when she was sitting in it. And one cat who sat around all (and I mean all) the time and did nothing -- called him "Bum".
Then we had the "cat from hell" .. he would sit on top of the fridge and claw you in the head when you came in the kitchen! He also would get mad at one of us, stalk us and sit outside our door flicking his tail waiting for us to come out so he could grab at our legs with his claws! My son wrote a song about that one!

they could be tired out from the move,it tends to stress them a bit..
or just plain magic carpet.whenever i've gotten a new one, they constantly nap on it until the "new fun" wears off.
my cats act weird sometimes, but it's usually just a phase with them.
like the all day stair decathelons they do occasionally.racing up and down like they had tape on their tails.

I have 5 cats and they all get lazy like that sometimes. They have their on and off days :) Today they have been really lazy lol. Some days they are so active all you see is blurs running around the house.
But your cats just may be exhausted. A new place has a lot of new sights, smells, and sounds. They just might be in sensory overload and trying to take a break of it. Cats generally have better senses than we do. I would only start worrying if they story eating. I doubt it is a depression. As long as they are out in the open and sleeping I would think they would be okay. But if they are finding places to hide themselves it may be stress.

Well I don't know if you call it weird or not but she will run around like she's chasing something. And she will get her back all up and jump sideways at the television. Its funny, she's just having a good time.
