A busy weekend for me to say the least. Nice warm, sunny weather brought out the garden tools and gloves. I transplanted Hostas and Day Lilies and set them around my Red Maple tree out front. It will look really nice in another week or two with sunshine, heat and moisture. Do you landscape around your trees at all with flowers etc?

I don't usually go around the trees but I do plan to put some flower beds in along the front porch and maybe the back porch. I'd love to go all around the house but I think my hubby would kill me for that. I am not sure either if I could keep that many beds weeded! We will have to start small and then add to it I believe! I have some Blood lilies potted in a pot to transplant and some glads.

As long as you do the flower work he may like them.
It makes for less grass to mow and tend to as well. HAHAHAHA!

Yes, but he is very famous for cutting things down. I have to go slow and easy on the yard work! I'm lucky so far that he hasn't cut down some of the things that were already there. There are a few patches of lilies and spider lilies along front walk that all need some tender loving care! Have a great day out in the sunshine! It's very cloudy here today!

Not yet. I have a really nice space under a tree in my backyard that will be a nice home for flowers that need partial shade. This couple days we had that it didn't rain were spent cleaning out the flowerbed beside my front porch--it had been taken over by some lovely vine with red berries that didn't let anything else grow.

I am thinking of getting some landscape timber to make a raised bed around this tree to put even more flowers around it. less grass to mow that way. But more weeds to pull for my wife. Hee hee!

Yes I do. I have gardens and flower beds around tress and under bushes in my yards. There is a lot of landscaping work that I still have to do and much of it isn't even related to flowers. There is a low spot in the backyard that needs to be built up because water collects there. Weeds need to be pulled and some bare spots on the lawn need to be seeded. I have cleaned out the main garden that I use for fruits and vegetables, but I still have another garden to tidy up and a new one to create. This was a busy weekend, but next weekend will be even busier. It's a great time of year. Cheers.

I did at my other house but since I've moved here I haven't had much time. I just got the yard to where it doesn't look like a jungle and as soon as I can scrap some money up I will take great care in planting my lillies and elephant ears. I love to garden I find it relaxing and exciting at the same time. It's relaxing digging my fingers in the dirt and exciting because something so beautiful comes out after all your hard work. My backyard is a different story there are some things in the back but for the most part I'm just happy I have grass. I have a great dane that loves to dig holes. He's gotten better about not doing it in random spots but right here behind the house so I guess that's not to bad. As soon as I get the house looking nicer I'll post some pictures for all to see.

Yeah my first year of owning the hopuse was spent on the house and the yards etc were neglected to a point. Now each March and April I am busy prepping the yards and gradens, and flower beds. I have a beagle that digs as well and he loves running in my gardens. So I put up a chicken wire barricade this year. Buster does not like that too much. HAHAHA!

Oh, that sounds as though it will create a beautiful focal spot to your front garden. I don't have any trees which I can plant bulbs around but my favourite would be crocuses and perhaps a few anenomes.
Brightest Blessings.

No, out front we have a chinese tallow tree but nothing planted around it and in the back yard we have some type of ash tree with nothing around it. We do have a bird feeder hanging off of it, one on it, one water pan on it and a bird bath near the tree, oh yes and a hummingbird feeder hanging from it.

I can only imagine how beautiful they will look there. We dont have any trees on our property to plant around...but 2 years ago I transplanted some oriental grass that I hope does well this year. So far we have had a ton of rain, so I am sure they are nice and watered....now for a couple weeks of sun and I think they will expand and spread like I am hoping they will.
good luck with yours, I am sure you will be enjoying the view in no time at all!!!
