We signed papers yesterday to buy our first home. It's a beautiful 4-bedroom 2.5 bath house with a large kitchen, huge yard, 2-car garage... It's so beautiful. It's being built now and should be done in about 45 days. Now we are busy getting all the documents (paystubs, W-2s, etc) ready to take to the mortgage officer... Of course, there is a slight chance we won't be approved, but I am not even going to think that way.
Have you bought your own home yet? How did you feel? I am feeling scared but excited and optimistic.

congratulations, finally you got your own love nest together. I want to get my own home too. But with my current condition, I don't think that I ever get one in the near future. Except I will win the lottery or something. Hopefully you guys happy together forever.

we bought our house in 2005 and it was the best thing we could have done.. knowing that its an investment and we can sell it later down the line and help us move towards a better home etc is a great feeling.. kind of like saving for future without having to save lol

We have bought a home, but in December we sold it and moved back into an apartment. This was due to health reasons, because my husband has had back surgery and was unable to care for the house and the yard. It was probably a blessing in disguise as he has now lost his job due to the economy.

Congratulations! I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I know people are saying it's harder to get into homes these days, so I'm glad to see it is working for someone!
We've financed three homes so far. It is scary and exciting at the same time! Good luck.

Bethany that is fabulous that you are buying your own place. that must be all your mylot earnings that have helped you save. lol.
I haven't bought my own place yet and the way things are in the UK I am sure that it will be a while yet before I can.
The flat that I am renting just now costs about 220 thousand dollars to purchase and that is an apartment and is hardly big enough for it all.
My partner is still at college and I am a stay at home Mum so it definately will be a few more years.

By now you should be one or two steps closer to buying your fantastic house. It sounds so lovely and spacious. Hopefully your mortgage will be arranged without any difficulty. Four bedrooms is a lot and two and a half bedrooms is ideal.
My first home I owned for 14 years and it was a tiny cottage. I sold it and bought my current house and I have been living here for four years now. I need to move to a bungalow to help my disabled son. I feel so excited every time I move. Good luck.

Hello Bethany. I was extremely happy when I bought my first house. It makes me feel that I have a real house of my own. I don't have to pay for any rent. It is relieving to have my own house. Now we have been living in this house for seven years. I like my house very much. It has a very good view over the streets and faraway mountains. Enjoy your new house, friend.

I owe a home and I feel really good about it. a lot of works at first but all I know is my own home. No matter what you leave your home, you still have to come back and stay in one place... that's what we called,"Home Sweet Home"
Congratulation for your first home...

Congratulations Bethany. Are you staying in the same area?
My husband and I are a second marriage for each. He had only owned one home prior to meeting me. I had one a home, and then a condo. We are now in our third home in Tennessee. The first one we boutht was in Sevierville, which is the tourist area of Sevier County. That's where we "though" we had to live. After fighting traffic for two years we moved to Jefferson county - 25 miles north and no tourists. Then about a year ago we decided we wanted a bigger home and more property and we would up in Cleveland, TN. Most people our age downsize homes, we upsized!! We went from a 1500 sq. foot home on 5 acres to a 3000 sq foot home on 10 acres. It was a 'fast sale' so in the long run we paid thousands of dollars less than it's true value, plus we paid many thousands less than our profit on the house we sold. We have not had a mortgage since we moved to TN so it's much easier to buy, less worry, the homes have been free and clear.
So, to answer your question Bethany, even though this is my 5th home, it was still exciting and scary at the same time. We had a contract on our previous home with a 3 week closing...that meant we had to pack the house, find a new one, move and be out within 3 weeks. Very hectic and in a way very glad it happened that fast!
Good luck to you both in your new residence....
