Dress Code

Do you have dress code where you work?. I work in a Call Center as an ERS Dispatcher for a insurance company. We have a dress code which I think is ridiculous because we spend all our time on the phone in front of a computer so no one gets to see other than the people who work with us. Why dress up just to talk on the phone, why do you think some jobs require a dress code.

Hi errica...I don't have a dress code where I work and sometimes I think we should. There are others who wear skimpy clothing sometimes and I don't think it's appropriate for the office. But I do have to agree with you - who's going to see you in a call center? I think as long as you're not wearing anything ripped or skimpy you should be allowed to wear whatever you like.

The place where I work thee is no dress code, though I would love to have one. Why are you all arms against dress code? Earlier there was no dress code for the students of my college but since 2004 it became mandatory that all colleges have uniform of their choice and now we have. when I go to the class and see the students in the same dress I feel elated and wish what if we teachers too had a dress code?

i'm just saying there is no need for a dress code if i'm going to be on the phone all day in front of a computer, no one is going to see what i will be wearing

I too work at a call center, taking calls for a huge gas and electric company (credit and collections). We also have a dress code although we do have casual Friday when we can wear jeans, tee-shirts (nice ones), and tennis shoes. I think most everyone in the center feels the same as you, it's stupid. I do in a way understand though - we have to be professional on the phones and I know for myself at least when I'm dressed more professional I feel more professional and thus protray that over the phone better.

I work as a tech support in Convergys...and we have a dress code as well. Its kinda nice in a way, it makes me feel like I'm working in a real office. lol! But yeah, luckily I only wear our dress code once a week, cause of my schedule.

I think they just want people looking "decent" when they go to work and if they are giving tours ect they want the business to look reputable. I work retail and we have a dresscode but I find it interesting how many folks wear sneakers and we are not allowed to. Or those that wear knit striped t-shirts with a pair of slacks and are still considered appropriate. I wear alot of my old wardrobe from when I worked @ a bank 6yrs ago... so sometimes I feel overdressed and it's not like I'm showing up in a suit or anything overly professional.
