On the other hand, I must say that I am computing myself fat. Time to go do some yard work I guess. I was going to walk this morning and we had a cloud burst right when I was ready to go out the door.

hahah, yeah walking definitely helps.
the recommendation for walking off weight is to walk an hour a day for most days a week at a moderate pace. and most people walk about an hour a day anyway. thats why it's good to keep a busy schedule ;D.
oh, and its proven that walking slowly burns more calories per mile then walking fastly.
I still prefer running or jogging though. I do it for fun and to staaay fit, not to get fit. xD

I have afriend who has done that. The neat thing is, he has two little boys and he walks with them as well. It is so awesome for his health and for time together.

This is not surprising at all! Walking is a great form of exercise. It is especially helpful for people who are very much overweight. If you have a lot of extra fat to carry around, you body uses a lot more calories to move around than if you are lean.
This is a great example of a simple way that people can lose that extra weight! I once read that you should do things the 'fit' way instead of the 'fast' way if you want to lose weight. It definitely worked for this man!
