Do cats have jealousy issues?

I have a nine year domestic short haired cat. He seems to be jealous of our dog and the dog who has been part of our family for over one year. The cat still gets a lot of attention. He still gets to sleep on the bed or were ever he's comfortable, gets his belly rubbed, and treats. He's still the King of the castle.

Absolutely. I have 3 cats and the second one doesn't like the third. He chases him and I can hear them fight so I have to chase them apart. The first and second one are fine but since the 3rd one came I don't know. The 3rd likes the 2nd but not vice versa....LOL

I think its most pets issue. my dog is always jealous. especially of me. when we first moved here with my sons dog here, i've had to teach her not to be jealous and my sons gf how to handle the jealousy issue. with mine, its like you have to pay equal attention to both and assure her you still love her also.

I do think cats are jealous animals. We have a dog and did have a cat. She got so sick we had to put her to sleep in January. The cat would get right in my face if I was petting the dog. She wanted my undivided attention all the time. This cat and dog were raised together and got along well. The dog didn't care if the cat was sitting on my lap or if I was paying attention to her instead of the him. I really don't think he has missed the cat though because he never went looking for her after she was gone.

Oh yeah! Cats are very jealous of each other and of people. Mine thinks she rules the roost (which she pretty much does!LOL) and she's not real crazy about sharing the glory with anyone. When my nephew comes over she retreats to a room and pouts! LOL
