Would you rather stay in during the summer or more so in the winter?

I am a person that always liked the fall and winter the most out of all of the seasons. I realize that the summer is approaching and where I live which is the south, it can get particularly warm and humid early on in the season. Where there is air conditioning is where I would rather be. I don't like the feeling of being outside and even doing something like walking a short distance. The summer doesn't usually agree with me too much. I usually feel kind of yucky and I need to get in the house and cool off and get a shower. I will of course let my son play outside but I am just not a fan of being out with others enjoying a hot summer day. How about you. Would you rather stay inside during the summer or the winter months?

Hi, bamakelly! I am like you too! I can't stand to be in the heat myself. I would rather stay in during the summers. I would rather be gone when it is wintertime. I can take the cold better than I take the heat. I don't even like my kids being in the sun too long at all. I have been gone most of the week and it was very hot. I even went walking for about an hour in the heat and I already have a suntan on my chest. So, now, I am trying to lighten my chest back up. I am now taking extreme precaution when it comes to being in the heat. I don't need a suntan, my complexion is already tanned enough. If I wanted a suntan I would have made sure that I put on my suntanning lotion. So, from now on, I have made a promise to myself that I will put on sunscreen before I leave for that day. And mostly with me, when it is very hot, I will only go out because I really need to. Like, if I have an appointment or if my kids does. I will try to do my grocery shopping before it gets really hot. I will go in the mornings and late in the evenings, plus nights as well. I can't stand being in the sun for so long. I am hot natured. Ever since I had all my kids, I have been like this. Home is where I would rather be when it gets hot like it is now. Humid weather makes my skin itch and sweaty. Plus my hair gets frizzy and curly quicker too. I hate the summers, but I love the summer clothes and breaks!

I was not sure how many people would be like me in the respect of weather conditions like summer. I figured that a lot of people chose the summer most of the time because it is a nice time of year and there are a lot of out door activities to participate in. However like yourself I would still rather stay in with the air conditioning. I have a five year old son that goes out side but I do worry about him getting over heated and seeing his skin become flushed. I like to make sure that he has plenty of water to keep hydrated as we all need to during the hot summer. That is good to add on sunscreen being that the sun can be so detrimental to our skin. I also have the problem with feeling sticky and itchy especially when it is too humid. And that is the type of weather that I get where I am living. And it starts so early! My hair has problems too when the weather is humid. But then again I suffer from dry skin in the winter! Well I guess everyone has their issues with any season. Take care.

Give me spring or fall any day. Cold makes me hurt so winter is too much. I had heat stroke when I was young (around 10) and have never been able to handle the heat and humidity well since then. Besides I love watching spring flowers and plants come up and the colors of fall.

I think that the spring and fall are lovely months as well. I guess I picked fall and winter because there is not always a real chance of it being too hot for me. You can enjoy many things in the spring as well. I do agree that the winter time can hurt some people with sore joints and the like. Heat stroke can happen because of it being too hot. That is why you choose the seasons where it is either mild or of reasonable temperatures. I appreciate your response and opinion on this subject. The flowers are pretty in the spring and I also love the fall foliage myself. Take care.

I don't like hot weather either. It's extremely hot here in Hemet, over 100 too often. If I'm not swimming I'd rather be inside.

I guess it does get pretty hot where your are. Temperatures over 100 can be unhealthy and it is probably a climate where you would need to stay in anyway. The air conditioning is a nice benefit to have. You can stay in and relax and enjoy yourself and not worry about becoming too over heated. It is getting pretty hot here now and it is only the early spring. There is more hot weather to come. I remember how hot and humid it was here last year. I have been in Alabama for a whole year now and I am very happy that I have air conditioning and a fan to blow the cool air around.

While I don't like being hot and sticky, it's so much easier for me to go out and about during the summer than the winter. Even at it's worst, I can walk out to my car during the summer, turn on the air and arrive at my destination in a timely manner. In the winter, you have to bundle up, warm up the car, many times dig it out of several inches of snow, hope the roads aren't a total disaster and proceed with extreme caution. Yep, give me a cool beverage, a lawn chair, and a little sunscreen any day.

I think I would agree with this perspective. If you have to be out in the heat, at least you can move to get away from it and into air conditioning.

I am just like you - I much prefer the winter to the summer! I keep hearing on the radio about how the 'nice' weather is coming. A couple of weeks ago, the temperature got up into the 90's and they kept saying how nice that is! I think it is crazy! We dont have air conditioning for the whole house so it can get quite hot and humid at times. I hate that sticky feeling! You can always put more clothes on, there is only so many clothes you can take off!

That is a shame that you don't have the air conditioning. That can be so difficult especially during the middle of summer. I endured a terrible heat spell in my house last summer and then we got window air conditioners thank goodness! I was so hot and tired and also worried for our health because the house was like an oven and we had a fan that just blew hot air. I know what you mean about the radio forecasts of the weather. They say that the weather is pleasant and nice and I just cringe every time April comes around because I know that the heat is going to be on in just a matter of time. I just feel more tired during the summer and I would rather stay in and not do much. Thank you for the response. Take care.

I guess I'm odd woman out! LOL I love the summer I live where it get very hot and humid to and I love the heat, going to the beach swimming in a pool. When I'm hot I go into the A/C. I don't like the winter, it seems that when I get cold it feels like it's in my bones and I can't get warm no matter what! I have to say the spring is great to. I guess I like anything but winter.

Thank you for your input. I can understand where many would like the summer opposed to the winter. There are a lot of activities during the spring and summer months that you can't really do in the winter months. However I just figure I will stay in and rest during the hot times. Especially when it is hot and humid together. I just don't feel very comfortable. When I was a younger girl I used to swim a lot and I guess that I had more energy. I have a child now and a lot more responsibility. Sometimes I feel that I don't have the get up and go that I once had and the summer just makes me more not want to do much. But I can appreciate your point of view. If the summer works for you then that is a good thing. You can have fun and enjoy the season.

Fall and winter are also my favorite months. I do not mind going out in the summer during the very few days when the humidity is low but once the humidity is high I stay close to the air conditioner.

I'm more of a summer guy, so I don't mind going out during the sunny days. After all, why stay in on such a beautiful day? Maybe that's why I become more of an optimistic person when it's bright and sunny. Almost makes me feel good during then. It's the winter time that I stay inside the most. It's too cold for me to be going somewhere, and i've got one cold after another during the winter time, so i'd rather stay warm at home. I still like snow falling down, but I rather not be outside to enjoy it without protection.

I have lived in the northeast the past 3 1/2 years and I'm getting ready to move back to the south. I love the summer, and would rather stay in when it's winter. Of course living in the northeast, that's what you do unless you like playing in the snow like I did. I'll be glad to get back to Texas, and it's a good thing I love summer, because I am a wildland firefighter and outside is where I work. Of course, had the heat of the weather to the heat of being on the fireline.....and it's realllyyyy hot some days lol.

I'd rather be inside during the summer. I don't like the heat!! That's a big reason I moved back home to the midwest after years in Arizona hell. I love the four seasons, every one of them! But summer can be awfully hot and humid and that's when I flee indoors to the air conditioning. When I was looking for a house, that was on a short list of must-haves, central air conditioning. No window units for me!

I do not stay in neither in Summer nor in winter. I like all the season and I just try to get out. Well, it doesn't get really really cold in winter, but gets very hot in summer. Although my friends like to stay in during all these times, I like to go around and have fun. I somehow like all the elements and seasons of the nature. bourne

I can not take the heat so during the Summer I must get my outside work done before 9 AM and spend the rest of the time where it is air conditioned.

I like the fall as well, especially after having really hot summers. I don't mind a little bit of heat, but when we get into the triple digits, you'll find me inside. I cannot handle the heat when it is above 100. When it gets that hot, it just isn't fun. I prefer milder temperatures. I am in the south as well.

I am not sure on that, a little of both. I usually dread going out in extreme weather, and then once I am out, I find it quite alright, possibly even stimulating. My favorite place to be in hot, humid weather though is swimming in a lake.

i would rather be out in the cool weather or moderately warm weather but i do not like the extremes of cold or hot. if i had to pick though i would say i would like to be out in spring or fall. i do not do well in the heat at all so it is hard for me to be out in the sun and heat.

i rahter stay inside in the winter because its cold here but in the summer its nice and warm so i go outside when i can when i aint suffering from hay fever, which is annoying. but the summer is the best time to go outside as the days are longer so you can do more in the days.

Kelly- I prefer fall the best because that is when the harvest festivals are, Samhain being my favorite, and when the temperatures are just right. I could live quite comfortably in a place that had that sort of climate year round. The summer is hard on my allergies. They've already started now that spring is here and flowers are blooming. I end up running my air conditioner most of the time, and that always makes for high summer bills. It's just that if I don't, I end up letting all of that pollen in and my nose is the one that pays the price. I will say though, that I do love the summer for the pool. My son loves to swim, and we spend a lot of our summer mornings enjoying the pool when we have it almost to ourself as many others work a traditional shift. I have to say, I also love to stay inside on the cold winter months as well. Though, we enjoyed quite a bit of sled time this year as my son was old enough, and we simply put the baby in a bunting. I love being outside on crisp winter mornings when the sun is up and shining. We had several lovely mornings this last winter where my husband and I enjoyed tea on the porch. Namaste-Anora
