Should Microsoft offer a free or cheap upgrade to windows 7 from Vista?

Windows Vista was a flop, and Microsoft knows it. Should customers who bought Vista have to pay the full upgrade price to Windows 7, or should Microsoft compensate its customers who purchased the failed Vista?

Microsoft always charges full price for anything they release. I doubt they will change that now. Bill Gates enjoys being the richest man in the world.

Vista isn't a piece of crap. It's more stable than any other Windows release. People just don't know what they're doing some times. It was crappy when it was released yes, but with all the updates and the SP1 it works great. And it is so much faster too.

This is a good point to make, because many people spent good money on Vista before realising it,s many failings. There was even the problem that people buying new machines from a retailer had no choice but to have Vista, with Windows XP not being available anymore. Nevertheless, we all know that Microsoft are unlikely to make such an offer and many more billions will be made from Windows 7.

microsoft never give a single application freely, in fact none IT company can do that.. it's of course a business :) well if you want to feel windows 7 you can download it's RC 1 version absolutely freely from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx and if you are technical then you must be knowing RC 1 is Release Canditate 1 version. which may have lots of bugs in the application. Not advisable to install RC1 operation system on your machine :)

Yeah I think Microsft should offer that since there are really many that got disappointed with the release of Vista. Their expectations was not met and with the release of the Windows 7 there are many praises I hear about those that used the Beta release and hopefully this time when they release it to the public they would offer some kind of discount to those that uses Vista OS.

Of course they should. After the agony caused by Vista to its user, that is the least thing Microsoft should do.

Vista wasn't a flop. Vista works pretty well after the Service Pack 1 and a second one is up for release in just a couple of weeks. Me and my friends have speculated about how Windows 7 might just be another Mojave Experiment haha. Although I believe that Microsoft just want to start over since Vista has left a really bad taste in peoples mouths. Win 7 isn't that different. And they could easily just give Vista another Service Pack upgrade and have the same compability and stability as Win 7 (not that it's stable or anything, haha)

No, I don't think it will happen. Microsoft always said that Vista was fine, and worked a lot on it. Maybe Microsoft know that Vista was not that good, but the will never ever say that. They just cannot say it was a failure because it would cause quite a big image damage for the company. It think it will just be as the previous times: you pay (a lot) you get it. That's what makes Bill Gates the richest man on the world an linux my favorite operative system.
