Yesterday my sister and neices had a girl's day out and my sister taught the young girls how to fly a kite! What fun they had! When is the last time you flew a kite? Or at least did something a little out of the ordinary?

That is so awesome and sounds like great fun! I do not know of any here, but there probably is somewhere! Do you attend every year?

Last summer. I bought a kite with the hope of flying it with my grandson, Ian, who visited family with his mother, my daughter Stacy. They're from Olympia, Washington. Busy schedule, no wind, and time to do so resulted in an unrealized event. So, a couple days after the flew away, I got out the kite even there was not a breath of a breeze, and ran up and down the street a flew the kite for a few seconds... That's it. I hope to try again this year with Ian who is now 2.5 or 3.5 years. (I'm slipping here!) Grandpa Steve

Hey Granpa Steve! It sounds like you have great plans of time spent with your grandson! Those times are invaluable! I hope you have a wonderful time with Ian flying a kite! I hope there is a breeze to make the day even more enjoyable! Happy flying!

This takes me back to my childhood days when we used to just fly under the blue horizon as if there was no tomorrow. Recently, when my nieces came down, she taught me how to fly and swim once again. It felt liberated, uninhibited and beautiful!

We have flown a few kites here but usually they are the cheap dollar store ones that break in the wind very easily. Nothing like what you see in the movies with the great big kites soaring through the sky but mostly me running like mad and then having it get tangled in the trees and stuff.

lol! yeah, I have had a kite or two or three stuck in the trees or lines! I don't know if I have ever flown any but the cheaper ones either. Luckily we finally did find a place or two that were tangle free! I kinda miss it! The beach is a great place to fly a kite as there's not usually all the intrusions!

Oh my god! It's definitely been a while since I flew a kite. I haven't flown a kite since I was a child. It's been a really long time.

Then you should try it once again! It's wonderful fun!! I can't really explain why or how but it is so much fun to accomplish getting it up in the air and letting the string out a little at a time!! I hope you try it again very soon!

Oh no! I can't seem to remember the last time that I flew a kite. That was way so long ago when I was still in grade school. If I'm not mistaken, that was during my 3rd or 4th grade. But I could still remember the fun moments that my father and I had. The sad thing about my kite flying experiences was that I would always end up losing my kite because our location was not an open field and there were trees around us so my kites usually stuck on a tree.
