Many youths worldwide has commited suicide because they feel they can't get out of certain situations they find themselves. They have lost every hope in life. When a youth looses a job without any hope securing another, and no source of income. One is tempted to terminate one's life just to end it all. Few years back, I found myself in such condition. But I was rescued by a friend who took me to church and thought me the benefits derived from prayers. My life was totally changed when i presented my case to God through prayers. Do believe prayer can change one's life?

Your story is an inspitation and should be shared as much as possible. Thank God for His mercy bestowed upon you. Also thank your friend for being obedient. I have experienced the power of faithfull prayer many times in my life. I have been through many life threatening situations and operations. I believe that God has heard my prayers in those times and pulled me through. I once experienced a heart attack and was alone. I could barely move but i just rolled of my bed and cried out "Jesus help!" When I got up I went for a checkup and they confirmed that the signs of a heart attack is there. I was saved by God's grace. I believe He has further plans for my life, and also for your's, that is why we are still around. Share your faith without stopping. Blessings

I do beleive in prayers but I often feel that they do not work. Sometimes I think that god has forgotten me. But I have not yet thought that God does not exist. I still beleive in God and have faith in him.

So many things, especially sin hinders our prayers from reaching God. Try and desist from sin. God will surely answer your prayers. Thanks for your contribution.

To be honest, NO! Firstly, I would point out that I am an atheist and therefore not prone to prayer but I will defend everyone's right to believe in whichever faith system that works for them - be it Christianity, Judaeism, Islam or even Scientology. I also actively defend my right not to believe in any higher power. As an atheist, it is my belief that prayer might act as a "crutch" to those who are weak willed and therefore rely on religion to explain their misfortune. I can't understand the idea of asking a mythical entity to solve my problems, guide me through life or help me win the lottery. That doesn't mean that I haven't tried it - as a very young child I was brought up as a Roman Catholic, so prayer was quite normal. What I did find was that prayer didn't deliver what I asked for! I believe that people should rely on themselves, their friends and family rather than mystical beings. It is only through one's self, friends and family that we can find happiness. But if there is a God or Gods, I sincerely hope that s/he or they bless you all!

Creation? I probably know as much in terms of fact as the average person in so far as the Big Bang, a mixture of oxygen, water etc. I certainly don't believe that God created Adam and Eve etc etc. Frankly, I believe it's a load of nonsense (sorry if that offends but it is my opinion!). However, if that is what people want to believe then that's up to them as long as they don't do any harm to anyone else.

If we have such kind of respect for anyone's belief, lots of hurts could have been avoided. Good words there @pawiliams. But let me share my thoughts on your view that "prayer might act as a "crutch" to those who are weak willed and therefore rely on religion to explain their misfortune". First, prayer is not only to call for help. It is actually a communication where you can say anything - ask for help, offer praise, give thanks and just to feel that the one you believe in is there and listening. Second, in my opinion, it is not a weakness to acknowledge your weakness and to ask for someone's help or to rely on a higher entity whom you think can help.

I agree with you in the sense that one should believe in one "system" for solving one's problems. .......higher power. Could you tell me what you know about creation, i.e. how we come into existence? However, thanks for your candid response.

I'm not sure that it has done that much in my life! This probably sounds like a very negative view but I have tried praying constantly at times and it just does not seem to improve my attitude. I'm looking to become more positive but this is just so difficult. Well, I guess I try and give thanks for what is going on in my life but I still feel very low at times. Andrew

Absolutely! Prayer changes lives, moves mountains. I know my life has been extremely changed since I decide to give myself to God. Prayer is one of the best things God ever invented. He has rescued me from a life of destruction, provided me with daily needs, protected against all harm and well it would take a whole day for me to tell you how prayer has changed my life for the best. I'm glad you too have been rescued by prayer. God bless you and the friend that led you to church. Keep on praying day and night and never stop! Read the bible too daily.. that boosts your prayer level. All the best honey and God bless xxx

I couldn't have said it better myself. Prayer helps and it is a great way to communicate with God. He also speaks to hearts and in other various forms to let us know that He hears us and that He will see us through our unfortunate situations that we have to face. He understands that things are hard and He isn't doing this to punish us but to make us stronger and closer to Him. Struggles allow us to depend on God and it tests our Faith to see how much strength we have.

I am not the holy type of person. But I do admit that prayer made me a more calm person in my life. Knowing there is someone beyond me who is in charge and taking care of everything. I do think that the relationship between God-mankind can help us to live a better life.

Yes! It has done a lot! I do prayers everyday and every time I am free. I talk to God casually because He is our father and I talk to Him like any child would. We should not be worried about what we are going to say to Him because even before we ash Him, He already knows what we want. I believe I am someone who is truly blessed because whenever I ask Him, He always answered back in due time. There was this time when we were truly broke that we literally have no money to spend, I prayed continuously that God will provide, God will provide and we never doubted it. True enough, before the end of the day, the Lord's hand touch us by giving us money through a friend who paid her debt unexpectedly. He gave us more than what we asked because He knows what we need. It is really sad that anti-christ are going strong nowadays that's why as a believer of God, we must be vigilant to the people around us and help them see that God really cares for us no matter how poor or rich we are. He is one Mighty God!

It's true that prayers do help a lot, specially if you're really at a loss for hope. Whenever I'm faced with difficult situations where I no longer see any light, I always turn to prayer. It does not only give me comfort, but actually it does work. But I am also a believer that we shouldn't just pray when we're in need, but also to pray when things are well and good. I don't believe in people who only pray when they need something and when they don't they turn away from God. You are fortunate to have found God when you needed Him most, and you should thank that friend of yours for sharing God to you, I dare not imagine what could have had happened if not for that friend.

I do not believe in a god exactly, and in my opinion the power of prayer is a sort of placebo effect. It's the BELIEF that affects you; not the prayer, not the god, but what it does to one's own mind. It has its place, but only if you have faith in it. But is ignorance bliss, or is it better to embrace reason and intellect, to recognise the improbability of a god but be unhappy? To eat from the tree or no? For my part, I think the former is more dangerous. Religion is truly the opiate of the masses. But kept in check, it is not entirely devoid of worth.

I understand what you want to say and to be true i also tried to end my life at one moment of life . I was about 16 at that time . Although i am still in teenager phase but i would say in todays world not only teenagers but adult people and even students are doing these things . Its just because of money , fame and so many worldly tensions . But when those things started to get on my mind , i told to myself ok i had this enough of it . I am gonna continue this life and see what else god has put forward in my life . If this was my rainy day , next day would be sunny . And this really helped me . It was actually my faith in him . Yes he listens to prayers but few times he don't . But what keeps me going is i know may be next time he will listen to my prayers . It always make you feel comfortable that someone is looking after you and helping you in all sorts of way . Then may be its Gods or him in the face of any person . I believe the friend who saved you was actually him . Many times i felt that he was actually answering to my questions through strange messages . For instance if i was in a bad mood and watching movie , something strange scene or message comes in the TV which looks to be the solution or his reply to my question .
