I am over 50 years of age. I waited a long time to get a tattoo. I did not want to make a rash decision and then regret it. Patience has paid off.
I saw a beautiful graphic of a butterfly recently on the Lot. I captured it, changed the colors and the size and then printed it. That became the pattern for my first tattoo. Saturday night that pattern became a tattoo that is a little bigger than a half-dollar.
Yes, I now have a royal blue butterfly tattoo. This was my gift to myself for Mother's Day. I am waiting for the pictures to be emailed to me. Then I will post the picture of it. For now, I am posting the graphic image after I changed the colors. I hope you like it.
Do you have any tattoo's? How many? What do they look like? How old were you when you got your first tattoo?
Update: I now have two more tattoos and my belly button is pierced. One tat is a vine of 7 ivy leaves with four butterflies. One tat is a butterfly talking to a dragon.

WOOHOO! I love it!!
I have a blue butterfly on my shoulder. It's landing on a rose that has mt kids initials in the leaves. My first is the word tat on my ankle lol I was 23 when I got it I think. and an ex has the other half of it.
I want to get another one but haven't found what I want yet. I found a pic the other day that was inspiring and I saved it.I will TRY to post it here.
I also like yours...I saved it too but would NEVER get a tat that anyone else has. It is a great inspiration to what I want though.
Where did yu have yours put? you didn't say...

Hey! We can be twin-zies since we both have blue butterflies. I have not added the rose to mine yet. I have not found a rose graphic I like.....yet. Someday, I will. You can take my butterfly and change the colors and size to get what you want. I will be honored to have you get a tattoo with a design similar to mine. That would be too cool.
Two of the boys that hang out with my daughter got matching tribal tattoos. It looks good on both of them.

I have a butterfly tattoo on my left upper arm, it's a monarch butterfly and it's of course purple! Well, purple and black to be exact! So am I now a "butterfly sister" too?

You have to get at least one butterfly so you can be a member of our butterfly club. Let me know when you get your tatt. I am enjoying the fact that a lot of us girls think alike.

Wow, that is very pretty! Does it really have that glowing effect as a tattoo?
I don't have any tattoos. And the ones that I do get are the temporary kind. LOL What can I say, I don't want to have something so permanent on me. Plus, the pain of getting one scares the hell out of me! LOL
Happy mylotting!

Yes, at first it did have that glowing effect. I need to go have the touch-ups done. I want to have the white and pink colors touched up a bit. I love that shirt you have on in your pic. I want it. Please send that shirt to me. It will show off my tat real nice. LOL (like that will ever happen) I bet you love that shirt. :)

Congrats on your first tattoo! I have quite a few so I am going to warn you now they are very addicting! Not many people can stop at just one! I will post a photo of my most recent tattoo! My best friend and I have the exact same tattoo in the exact same spot too, as it symbolizes our friendship! I love her dearly! In the photo you can see both mine and her tattoo!

The two boys who hang out with my daughter got matching tribal tats. It is their friendship/blood brother connection with each other.

Thanks tammy! We will definitely have to fix not being friends! I really like my best friend and I's tattoo as well! I never went as far as to put her name or initials or anything in it ... that is bad luck!

hi there, royal52gens..
i am yet to get my first tattoo..
my 32nd birthday is on the 17th of this month and i want a tattoo as a birthday gift to myself. i'm still waiting for God's go signal. if He gives me the money for it - around $50 - and the time to go to the tattoo artist, then it means He is allowing me to get it. if not, then, i'd consider He's saying either NOT THIS YEAR or NO, YOU'RE NOT GETTING A TATTOO EVER.

If things do not work out for you to get your tattoo, there is a third conclusion you may not have considered. That would be that God is telling you "not yet". You might need to be patient. Your day will come.
I hope things do work out in your favor so you can have your tattoo for your birthday. What design or pattern are you planning on getting?

hi there, again...
i haven't got my tattoo... yet. yeah, i guess you're right. perhaps it's NOT YET time for me.. maybe i would also have to wait until i'm 50. (if God allows me to live to that age)..
i have this 1-inch scar i got not quite long ago, it's at the center of my upper back and i'm thinking of a gothic style of a cross..
see you around!

Be very careful about tattooing a scar. Scar tissue is not always a good thing to mess with. Tattoo's damage the skin in a way.

Very cool.... I love it! Can't wait to see the pictures.
My first was a claddagh (spelled wrong but an Irish symbol) with the words Harm None, was a divorce gift from my sister when I was 26 - ish. And last year for my birthday my hubby got me a moon (him) with 3 butterflies (my girls) and 3 stars (my boys) and off the moon's tip is two tear drops for my two babies that aren't here any more.

Very pretty blue butterfly! I have 3 so far . My first was flowers and vine on my tummy when I was 40 years old . Second one was a whale tale by my ankle .
Third was a dragonfly with womans body at my middle lower back .
I still want to get a few small paw prints and would also like a seashell .
I took both of my kids to get their first tattoo when they turned 21 .
Don't be surprised if in a year or so you want another ...

Hi hun,
I'm glad that you got something that you liked. I have 3 tattos and I still want more. My very first tatto is of a small butterfly with purple and blue and pink and white in it and tribal sign on either sid eof it.My second tattoo is of a butterfly over a daisy in the middle of my back up towards the base of my neck. My third one is of a kitty with wings and paw prints coming from one side to the other. LOL!! I still want one of a kitty with gargoule wings and asleep on a cloud with a half eaten butterly in his paw and part in his mouth. I guess I have a thing of tieing in my tattos all together LOL!!

Your tattoos sound interesting. There does seem to be a theme there with wings. That must mean something special to you.

I have heard that tattoos on the foot hurt. I suppose that is because the skin is so thin there.
