It's that time again. Summer is on it's way and P1ke's thoughts turn to his annual discussion about summer dresses. Yes you can call me fetishistic, perverted, sexist about such things if you want. However, I just love to see women walking about enjoying the sun in dresses. I wish that men could be so smart. We tend to wear football shirts (in Europe) and the male equivalent of capri pants! YUK! Are you a summer dress wearer? If you are male, what is your choice of summer wear?

Ah, sweet p1key, you know how much I love this discussion! And you know how much I love summer dresses too. They're my very favorite thing to wear! I was going through my last year's stock and with the ones I'll buy this year, I'll have enough to get me through the summer good and proper. I love the airy-ness of them, and the feel of the sun on my shoulders, and since my bicyle has put my legs in such good shape, I love showing them off too. Summer dresses rock, p1key! And, btw, so do you. xxx

Can't argue with you on that one, you got to love the summer dresses.
I am more of a tee shirt and jeans type of person both in the summer and the winter but I have been know to wear the odd pair shorts at times. I just hope we get a good summer this year and have time just to chill out

Howdy Pike! Yep I'm one of those sundress wearing sunbabies in the summer. I love the summer time, and I love sundresses, of course so does my fiance lol. Matter of fact, if the weather holds true to Texas..........I'll be getting married in a sundress and flipflops hehehe. So, enjoy the summer Pike, just don't try wearing a sundress, lol

The last time I wore a dress was for my wedding I think. That was almost 12 years ago.
I'm a short and capris kind of a gal in the summer. I love tank tops, with thick or spaghetti straps (now that I have proper fitting strapless bras... lemme tell ya.. THAT was a task in iself!).

So, you like girls in summer dresses, eh?
Well, I'm a jeans kinda girl. But you prolly already figured that, didn't you? Seeing as I hang out with sheep and horses alot. lol
I only wear dresses for 2 reasons....
1. Formal dress when it is required;
2. When I'm feelin' frisky!
EGADS!!
But I'm not so interested in men that wear shorts without underpants and let the boys fly free, cause if they are sitting with their legs apart, which they always are, it seems, the 'boys' often have a 'peek' out to the world. TACKY THAT!!

I don't wear dresses ever and pretty much wear the same clothes year round. I am always amazed at people who have summer clothes and winter clothes and they pack and unpack twice a year. I can't afford to have two wardrobes. I might have a few long sleeved shirts or blouses, but otherwise, I'll wear the same things through out the year if I'm in the mood.
Now - can you translate???

I confess to having a winter and summer wardrobe Jerz. Short sleeve = summer!! LOL. We are not allowed to write here in any other language than English. However, no one says what period of English. The title to this discussion is the first line to a Madrigal song from the 13th Century. "Summer is coming, Loudly sings the cuckoo" is the 21st Century translation.

OK, good. The only part I didn't or couldn't assume was "loudly sings". I wondered if that's what it meant, but wasn't thinking old English.
My mother never changed clothing as the seasons changed, so I didn't grow up with it, but a friend's mother would have boxes of clothing stored away for the coming Spring or Winter and it always seemed strange to me. I'll keep some winter items in my closet, but the rest of the items I'll wear year round.

SUNCLAD! or is is STARCLAD! YAY!
Darnit, gotta keep studying.
Too bad we are such a prudish society of beings, eh?
We live so far out in the country, that I could probably get away with it here.
*shhhhh, maybe I have once or twice already*

I wear summer dresses, I like wearing them, they're very errrm airy, just like my head. :)
I've got a couple of summer dresses, one's yellow with multi-coloured flowers on it, one's black with straps, one's shiny and I think it's a halter-neck where it ties up round the neck bit. Can't think if I've got any more than that. I do wear shorts and t-shirts through summer too though.
If you do decide to wear a dress, will you take a photo and stick it here please? ;P

I wear dresses because they are more comfortable, not because they are feminine. I tend to ear very plain, very simple, and very modest clothing, because I am not interested in dressing up for show. If I was a male, then I'd probably be a cross dresser. LOL haha I think the guys in Scotland are onto something.

I wear sarong and transparent top with bikini under
then sandals of course
I really don't wear much in summer here because I wear enough in winter already
Hubby is one of those people that always wears t shirt and capri or jeans
topless is not his style
which is strange because if I had muscles like his I would no doubt go topless
he doesn't like wearing shorts or 'limp' material because he doesn't want his monster look obvious
I don't know why lol he can't shrink it anyway
then again if I have customer coming I certainly don't wear sarong and bikini :)
although it might help boost the sale hahahaha

I answered this discussion last year but you will be happy to know that my answer has changed. I just bought half a dozen knee lengthy breezy cotton colorful summer dresses. I plan on wearing them mainly in Jamaica but at least I know I have them if I need them. The yellow one is my favorite...who would have ever thought I would look good in yellow. lol

Thank you both. I have a yellow one, a red one, a pink one, a green one, a white one, and a black one. They aren't solid colors except the black and white ones but the noted colors are the dominant ones.
I was just out shopping again yesterday, and had I known they were back in style I would have picked up a MuMu for both P1ke and James.
It does get awfully hot here in the summer. I wouldn't want the boys to suffocate

P1ke-
I've already broken out the summer spaghetti strap dresses, and shirts. I enjoy summer because these are the clothes I prefer to wear. I also get to wear my sandals now, and I love being barefoot. And, I get to show off my tats on my shoulders now.
