Ok I have a theory here

While watching a show on turtles, I thought of something. Well the show was about how far a turtle could go. They say a turtle 9-20 mile per hour. But they can travel at longer distance's, why? Because they save their energy going slower There for having more energy longer. Ok so here was my theory! If a car was to travel say from Ohio (USA) to Florida (USA) which is 866 miles or 1394 km. If you drive at 65 miles per hour it would take more gas than what it would it you drove it at 50 mile per hour. So why cont they lower the speed limit which in turn would use less gas which would cut back on pollution which would help save our earth. So save money,use less gas, and cut back on pollution just by lower the speed limit. Just my theory! What do you think!

Hi sxrxnrr,
I agree with you, that is what I have always said but you know cars were invented by men and men loves spped, you can't tell them anything as they always have other reasons to have spped and speed kills apart from pollution. Hugs.

Lower the speed limits was tried a few years ago. The trouble was nobody paid attention. So it was abandoned. Yes lowering the speed limit would lower pollution and save gas and money. But we are a society who wants to get where we go as fast as possible so that we can turn around and get home as fast as possible. We would have to retrain ourselves,LOL, don't think that will happen unless we hire a LOT more traffic cops to give speeding tickets...

I think they should lower the speed limit, because if they lowered it to 55 then most people would go 65 mph. Every time they up the speed limit everyone goes over it by ten miles an hour and sometimes even faster. It's a very dangerous for me on the freeway because everyone goes too fast and I don't like that. So I take the highways and go through town as much as I can. I don't drive over 60 anymore because it does save gas when you go 55 or lower.
