Please give me some advise whether it is safe or not?
The doctor said that general anaesthesia will be used.

We live in Canada and both of my daughters had to have their tonsils removed years ago when they were in Grades 1 and 3. Everything went fine and they are feeling much better for having it done. No more tonsilitis and strep throat. They were both getting those every single month for about six months. They were constantly sick with fevers and couldn't eat, drink or sleep because of it. I was very worried about them having the surgeries, after all they are my babies, but everything was fine. The surgery itself only takes about 20 minutes and then the patient is moved into the recovery room for about an hour and then to your room for the rest of the day. You are usually sent home the same day, but I insisted that they were kept overnight just in case something went wrong, but there was no need.

I think it is common in people who having hypersensitivity that they tonsile swells until it ur pharyngeal arch become narrow and obstruct ur food passage. i think it doesn't give much different if ur tonsile is gone becoz there r a lot more lymph node around the head and neck that could take the job of ur tonsiles.

I had a tonsilectomy when I was 23 and it was fine. It takes adults a little longer to recover but there is nothing to it, a few days of a sore throat and it all gets better.

A tonsillectomy is a very safe operation that surgeons have been doing for more than two thousand years. It is one of the most common operations you can have, so there is no need to worry at all about the procedure. It will take you a week or two to recover during which time you'll have to stick to eating soft foods, but the risk of anything going wrong is very low (although there is a very, very small risk associated with any operation under general anaesthetic). Lots of people have had the operation done and they have been delighted with the results. Good luck and don't worry.
