Zend Studio for Eclipse is currently the latest offering from Zend. Most developers use it because it come from the company who offers PHP. I personally use it as well because of that fact and it does everything I need it to do. In terms of ease of use there are alot of others that may be easier to use and even faster than zend studio. Just because it comes from Zend doesn't make it the de facto you see. It uses java runtime so it's kind of slow sometimes, on slower computers whereas most other IDEs are built on visual c++ runtime making them alot snappier. I think you should just stick to the Zend studio if you're not currently using any other, if not stick with the one you're using.

I have been using PHP designer. Its great with many features. Theres an OLD FREE version of this software. But now its a paid one. The free version still can be useful for beginners. I mean its really really useful to newbies. You get two panes one for code and the other one for output. At anytime when you press F5 you get instant output in the right pane. So this is time saving feature for newbies. You can also save code snippets.
