All of us love icecreams. I adore them. But then if I remember a receipe of an ice cream, they added egg in it. Many would consider egg a non veggie, so then is ice cream a vegetarian or non vegetarian food. And then if it a non vegetarian food, then what would do who are vegetarians. Do we not think about it or do we ask for the ingredients from the company. Or we just avoid icecreams? I am a non vegetarian and therefore I would still eat icecreams, egg in it or not. How about you?

Eggs are not vegetables but cream, which is where ice cream comes from is a dairy product from an animal making ice cream not even vegan.
There are some "ice creams" made from tofu though.

Early tofu ice cream was terrible. The stuff sold now is quite good, however. There is also an ice cream like product made from rice milk.

I have not tasted vegetarian ice creams yet. I cannot imagine an ice cream with veggie-flavor. I am not a vegetarian also, but if I will encounter one, maybe I'll have my first taste.

In response to your discussion, ice cream is non-vegetarian. It is classified as one of the dairy foods and it belongs to the dessert group. I love ice cream but I eat it in moderation.

Some would say that ice cream is not suitable for vegetarians because it contains eggs and dairy products but some vegetarians still eat those foods, so it is debatable. I do eat eggs and dairy, but I avoid ice cream because I know it is high in sugar and fat and I have a weight problem. I make my own "fake ice cream" from frozen fruit. I add frozen strawberries and frozen bananas to my food processor and let 'er rip. The bananas make it really thick and creamy and if you want it more like a milk shake (smoothie) just add some juice. It is cold and refreshing and has hardly any calories, and NO FAT! I love it.

I have heard that some people put egg on ice creams. I think most ice creams are vegetarian as they does not contain eggs. I think it is good to look at the label to know if the ice cream is vegetarian or not.

Vegans don't eat any animal products at all. so they wouldn't eat icecream anyway. I haven't met any vegetarians who don't eat eggs, they just don't eat meat. When food is labelled as 'suitable for vegetarians' it can contain eggs.

I have never met a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs. I know some do but I always thought it was pretty rare. I have been a vegetarian myself for 5 years and I eat dairy although very little. There are various extremes of being vegetarian though aren't there? Some people are very serious and won't eat in a restaurant that serves meat and then people like me are more relaxed about it. I have no problems making meat meals for my boyfriend. I have never heard of vegetarian ice cream!

Myself a vegetarian, and do eat eggs. But as per the defination of vegetarian, eggs are also considered non veg. So an icecream with gelatin or eggs is not vegetarian. But hey there are icecream and cakes too without eggs. So being vegetarian doen't mean u can't relish these delicacies.
I have a vegetarian blog too can check out here.
