Hello fellow mylotters, I am sorry if this topic has been raised before, I tried to look around a bit but I find none that discuss this. I find it difficult to get a good night sleep. Even if I try to wait until I feel very sleepy before I go to bed, I still find that a lot of the time I am restless throughout the night and in the morning I just wake up tired. So just wondering if you guys can give me any advice on this. Thx in advance for your help :). L30n84

Oh Lordy, do I know about not getting enough sleep! I hear ya on this. It is a constant battle to fall asleep and stay that way all night long. Most of the time I wake up is when I have to turn over to the other side, I cannot sleep on either back or stomach as it is uncomfortable as heck. I have found a short hot massaging shower to be of some relief from the pain in my back, as well as taking an Advil or Tylenol PM if really necessary. I don't advocate taking them unless they are absolutely needed, as it can cause an upset tummy in the morning.

I only take them when I cannot stand it anymore, believe me, I have a high tolerance for pain, childbirth with no epidural for one thing. I only take maybe 1 or 2 in about two weeks's time.

Hey Krissy32, That is exactly what I experienced! I cannot sleep on either back or stomach either and yeah I woke up when I need to turn to the other side. I am sorry that you suffer the same thing as me, but yeah please dont take too much of painkillers if not necessary because it wont be good in the long term, at least that is what my thoughts are on those things =). Thx a lot for your response. L30n84

Go get tired and do something that will require you physical effort. You must feel exhausted. You must have gallons of sweat dripping from your face and your body. haha kidding aside. After doing this, go treat yourself to a nice warm bath. Go to your bed and I am pretty sure that when you wake up, you'd be feeling great. You would say that you just had a great sleep. =) I hope this will help you out a lot. Not to mention you'll be getting very fit because of the exercise. =P

Hi Clarkdaniel, Wow gallons of sweat eh, I would faint at the gym if I do that but what the heck as long as I got sleep LOL. But yeah, I actually have 1 hour gym session in the evening 4-5 times a week but unfortunately for me, it does not seem to help. In contrary to my experience though this method work veeeerrry well with my sis! Once she had a gym session, man I could turn my radio (gee sounds old-fashioned) out loud and she will still be fast asleep. I could even slap her ... and then she will wake up and give me a black eye hahaha. Just kidding I would not slap my sis hahaha, but yeah gym does not help me get a good night sleep, but as you mentioned I managed to drop a few kilos =). Thanks for the advice! L30n84

wow, it sure is hard to give you a good night sleep. I remember one of my co-employee who happens to be occasionally insomniac. "I think I know what to give you on your birthday," I said. "A hard pillow. =P" My friend startled, "Why?" "So that when you lay down on your bed, as soon as your head hits the pillow, you'd be sleeping like a baby. tee hee" A product of my wild imagination. hahaha

That is very sad. My advise is to not watch TV before going to bed. that helps. Then you can opt for a glass of water before going to bed and if you sleep with light bulb on, then try sleeping in complete darkness. I hope that you will get sound sleep every time you go to bed, now on!

Hi anin_0208, I have tried sleeping pill once (when I was reaallly desperate) but yeah I avoid them like a plague now. I can actually get quite a good sleep in that I did not even wake up even once throughout the night ... but the next morning I dont feel full of energy either. I mean once in a while when I am lucky enough to get a good night sleep, I wake up energised and alert. I find this is not the case with sleeping pill. Tell you what though, I will try what the other mylotters suggested and if I find something that works I will let you know, perhaps it will be better than sleeping pill =). Thanks for your suggestion. L30n84

Sometimes when I can't sleep I have a bath with some lavender oil in, makes me all relaxed. Lavender in gerneral is good to get yourself relaxed... thast if your not allergic. Or I open my window lie down and listen to my ipod until i drift off.

Hi Dacrusher90, Your love for outside sport seems like reflect on the nick you have chosen LOL. I am not good at sport. Believe me if I played sport, my mates would do most of the running hahaha. I am not proud of it but I cannot say I am good with any sport. That is why I join the gym ... but even this does not help me much. But thanks for you advice, and yes I know it works for some people since this indeed works very well for my sis. L30n84

You can try the following: 1/ Embedding your feet in warm water before going to bed. 2/ Take a glass of hot milk. 3/ Don't eat too much before sleeping. 4/ Read some difficult documents, they'll make you fall asleep. 5/ Doing some excercises or sports, then take a bath and go to bed.

There are lots of things you can do. Try having a cup of hot tea - without caffiene - about half an hour before you go to bed. The hot tea is soothing, so it will help you relax. If you dont find tea relaxing, try something quiet that you do find relaxing. It will help get you ready for bed. Try stretching throughout the day. That will help get your blood flowing through your body and make you alert during the day. This way, your body will be more ready to go to sleep when it is time for bed and you stop stretching. Try going to bed earlier. Often times, if you wait too long, your body has started to produce hormones to keep you awake. Many people refer to this as thier 'second wind'. Try to avoid letting that happen. If you are restless while you sleep, the problem may be your bed! If it is old, it may not be as comfortable as it used to be. See about getting a new one. Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you!

Hello there L30n84. I have read in one article before that helps us to relax to have a warm and short shower before bedtime. Also avoid exercising few hours before bedtime. Maybe you need also to discuss this with your doctor so he/she can tell you what to do, cause it would certainly create problems in our system if our body unable to get 8 hours of sleep. Are you into reading? try to read the Bible you will certainly get sleepy and snore in no time at all...I don't know...maybe the devil just don't want you to read it...lol...there's nothing wrong in trying. Hope this helps. Happy mylotting.

I guess you have an insomia a trouble of sleeping. Maybe you can ask doctors advice with this matter if it still going on for how many days. I think theres a tablet for you to make you sound sleep. Did you ever try to have massage in your body to relieve your insomia? Read stories before you sleep this can lead to sleepiness.

Hi Geniustiger, Yeah I went to a doctor once but he prescribed me sleeping pill, which does not work that well for me LOL. But I like your idea of having a massage, that could actually work since I feel pretty tense sometimes after work! Thanks for the advice. L30n84

From my experience, if I have had some exercise like playing squash during the day, I can get asleep in no time at night. Is it your sleeping environment not comformtable enough? For instance, what about the bed? air ventilation? Temperature?

Hi Faisai, That is exactly what my sister told me. She could get to sleep in no time after her gym session. The problem is I also went to the gym, 4-5 times a week in the evening but I dont feel sleepy at all afterwards LOL. I think my sleeping environment is quite alright ... but what do you mean by ventilation, I sleep with my window closed do you think I need to open it? Thanks for the advice by the way =) L30n84

Hi! i also experienced the same problem you have.. i notice that no matter how long we sleep, we seem to be restless if we are thinking a lot of things.. Especially when you have work, you get tired of doing same things daily.. My advice is, try to do things that make you feel happy and comfortable.. I think spending time with family and friends is the best thing to do to relieve your stress. Scientifically, if you are a coffee-person.. You can take milk as a substitute.. ^_^ That's all i can share for you my friend..

Try to do some exercises in the daytime to see whether there is an improvement for your sleeping. Try to relax yourself and drink a cup of milk when you go to bed. Good luck! I love China

Wheather when you are sleep, you always think mang things so that you can not sleep well.If so ,you should not think it and divert your thought. It is a better way to do some exerses before you go to bed which i have tried.Adding ,forget those thing that make you be in trouble .
