I am an engineering student and i really like solving mathematical problems. my favorite subject is math and i reallly hate my writing class because i find it so boring..
Now i've found myLot and i'm starting to feel that writing is more exciting than solving problems.. I thought writing is just a waste of time but now i'm really enjoying sharing my experiences and ideas to other people..

lol, I totally agree with you. However, I think engineering will definitely payoff in the long run. I was a terrible math student but I've always enjoyed writing to a degree. Its the only thing you don't have to get right the first time, you can revise, add or take away from it until you're satisfied unlike a heart surgeon, if you don't get it right the first time, you're in big trouble! lol however if you could combine your expertise in engineering with writing that's even better. You've created a nich for yourself - keep writing and good luck to you

i thank you for your honest comment.. it's a good idea that combining 50% expertise in math and 50% in writing is better than doing 100% effort with just one expertise.. i'm really happy that i discovered some things like these and it makes me really overwhelmed..
many people say i'm boring because i talk less that's why i'm spending effort here in order to improve my communication skills..

Writing is a lot more fun in a sense that you have to write something that would come out as your opinions or ideas which in a way with mathematical problems does the same.
Solving mathematical problems also involve the same thing as thinking of possible solutions to its requirements.
Though I too found that even that you are not a good speaker in the command of English, writing makes it very well excellent. Its because you are thinking much of how to compose a good comment to post just like here in myLot. Same as as solving mathematical problems.

Personally, I'm way better in writing than mathematical problems.. No matter what I do about it I'm just not really good at it. How I really wished I have a skill in solving mathematical problems because it really works the brain and its very essential especially when you plan to start a business. I believe most people prosper because they are naturally inclined with numbers and I am not that's why I really have to work hard in it. But don't get me wrong I appreciate my talents but I if only given a chance to be naturally good in math I'll do something great about it. :)

yeah it's good but i'm getting the hang of solving problems. not to mention but i'm the top student in engineering department and i always been appointed as a representative to certain competitions.. but one day, my classmate who is not that good in mathematics said, "you're going to be crazy when you count everything you do and always talk about numbers".. i think this statemant opened my mind.. so i start doing other things that i've never done before..

Well that reminds me of a certain quotation :) "Dreams are the true interpreters of our inclinations but art is required to sort and understand them". I think both things are essential :)

you have hit the nail right on the head, my friend. writing is a very satisfying activity and in forums like this, writers also get a chance to speak out their mind and showcase their talents.
keep writing... but i guess problem solving in maths too is required for your brain, right?

Writing is a lot more fun than math.
Wow, this is amazing that you've made this great discovery about writing. I'm glad that you've decided to change your mind about it. In math I never had a really good teacher down through my years but I was always told that my strongest skills are in writing and it's starting to seem like the more that I do it. The more that I want to do it. I read a lot of books and I have no doubt that some day I will write my own life story. It would probably include some of my trials and tribulations that I've encountered in life with math. I'm happy to meet you and I know that you must be a very smart person if you are an engineering student. I hope that one of my sons will become an engineer some day. They would make really good money and I know that they would have to have a knack for that sort of thing as far as putting things together and being able to build things. My oldest son used to put legos together back when he was a child and I used think that he will probably become an engineer some day but he will have to decide on his own about that because it would be his decision. Anyways I would love to know what got you started going in that direction in life? Also do you write any place besides Mylot? What are you doing to try to improve on your writing skills? If you are interested I would love to send you some info. to another site where I think you would enjoy. With you being an engineering student I'm sure that you would be able to figure out how to make the site a success once you build it. And I will always be close by to work with you if you need my assistance. Please add me as a friend here at mylot okay? Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soon. Peace.

Writing is never a waste of time, and I'm glad you've discovered that. You'll probably earn more from the engineering, but you should feel proud that you're expanding your knowledge and talents in this way. Congratulations on being open minded enough to give it a go. The more you write, the easier it will be and the more satisfied you will feel. Why not combine the two skills and write some short articles on aspects of engineering?

Its nice to hear that you found a liking to writing. Its kinda like letting your thoughts freely out into the world. You also have the option of sharing it with someone or just keeping it to yourself.
Solving math problems can be a bit challenging and very much fulfilling once you've gotten the write answers to the questions and problems given. Its a good outlet to keep one's mind sharp and is definitely a good exercise for the brain. Writing can be a break from all that thinking. The sky is the limit into what thoughts we might have. We are also free to say or post it however we want. So in that sense, writing is the mind's break from thinking too much. We can just lay back and let our thoughts wander accompanied by our imaginations.
Have fun myLotting.^_^

Well for a guy who hates Math like me, writing would be a hundred times more fun that solving Mathematical problems. Solving problems would even mean nonsense for me. lol! I'd write a hundred article just don't let me solve 1 Mathematical problems. I think it's good to write xarex, i think when you're getting the hang of it, you're finally being able to express what you really want to say even if English is not our primary language. It's becoming like second nature for us. Also that fact that a lot of people here can relate to us makes us more accomplished.
