My wife and I went to visit our daughter and family Sunday morning. While there it is a family ritual we go to this huge Nursery near her cvalled Pahl's. This place is a farm actually it seems. They grow their own plants flowers trees etc all year long. Anyhow prior to going to her house I dug up a bunch of my strawberries to give to her for her garden etc. This is a photo of the dozen or so plants I took to her house. Well in the long run after returning from Pahl's Nursery I ended up planting her strawberries and a few other garden plants for her Sunday. I bought some for my gardens as well and put them in today. Do you do gardening work for family and or friends as well as your own? Are you the green thumb of the family like myself? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

As a matter of fact no I don't have a green thumb. I buy the plants for my roommate and he plants the garden as I don't care to as much. Went to the farmers market this Sunday and got some plants and seen people that I used to work with. They told me that I mite get called back to work. I'm glad you had a good day. back to work on here have been off. So have to get back to work. LOL. Your friend onlydia

I love to garden. But, have barely enough time to do our own. Thankfully hubby is the one to maintain ours. Wish I had more time to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies.

Hi Grandpa B,Back home, I never tried to plant my own, I always help Mom but was not in love on it before..LOL! I always complain when we will work in the farm and yard since I am very allergy to some of the grasses.. Anyway, when I arrived here, I was amazed that I can grow plants and flowers too and I am loving it, I am very thankful to my Mom who exposed me on this fun activity when I was young... I have not tried doing it for relatives, but that is a very great idea!

I enjoy gardening, so help my friend with hers, but it's getting increasingly more difficult for me with my arthritis and DDD. Nothing hurts when I'm doing the work, but as soon as I stop... I'm generally laid up the next day.

I also suffer from DDD and it also is getting rough for me to bend down as much as I have to. I use a piece of cardboard most times and sit on it to weed etc to ease the back pain. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I have a little stool I sit on. That helps ease some of the strain, and makes it easier to stand up again... easier than from sitting right at ground level.

Thats very nice of you to share your green thumb with others. I have always had a garden since I was a kid. My mom was always so patient with me tearing up her yard. The last few years my son has takin over te gardening duties, he is in competition with te neighbor guys. they have gardens too. tis year my son out did himself, the garden looks really nice. He has boards layed out to walk on, he also has straw put down to keep the weeds down. Its fenced off to keep the dog out, plus the fencing helps with some of the vegies, like cucs and green beans. Good luck with your garden this year.

I am coming up there in a week or so. New grandbaby is here, and daughter and son in law are buying a house. Should be moving when I am there. Where exactly is this Pahl's Nursery? Oh, by the way, it's a girl. My older granddaughter is relieved. She was making plans to send the baby back to Mommy's tummy if it was a boy.

Not only do I have a brown thumb but I have sandy loam instead of soil and bore water which at times is very highly concentrated. My poor lemon and orange trees are struggling to stay alive. I don't dare do any gardening for anyone else...

Hi GRANDPA BOB, Those strawberry plants looks really nice, but I don't have any in my garden as I haven't done anything for a while, the weather here has been very bad, what with rain and gale force winds I haven't even been in my garden but my yellow roses are in full bloom and so many buds on them. I haven't got green fingers like yours but my mother used and she was a great gardener. Tamara

I always do some gardening when I go to my daughter´s house. I help them plant and decide where to do it. When they visit, many times they take snmalls plants from my house. Sometimes I have them prepared so they can get nice plands instead of seelings. Such has been with gazanias. I have lots of them so I can pick out for them plmts with flowers of different colours

that is really nice of you grandpa bob to lend your green thumb to your daughter... unfortunately, i didn't have a green thumb like you... so my small backyard had been neglected for so long now because neither me nor my hubby know what to do... we are thinking to hire a professional gardener to fix it... may be if you live near us, you can help me... :-) take care and have a nice day...

years ago, when i was single, still living at home and both my parents were alive. it was a standing joke in our house, that if mum went shopping, she always came back with a plant. well shes long gone now, but i carry the tradition on. i love my plants and have over 50 containers with assorted plants, as well as flower beds in the front garden and back garden. i have got strawberries, the original plants go back about 8 years, but they just keep giving out runners. i used to do gardening for my friends, but unfortunately since i work full time, i only have time for my own. but i swap cuttings of plants, with work friends and do cuttings for friends out side of work. i would rather be working in the garden than working in an office, but wouldnt we all.

It it nice of you to plant for the other members of the family. I wish I lived closed to you so you can give me a piece of your green thumb. My daughter has moved in this house with a lot of room for planting. I have thought about doing some planting over at her place. But she has a dog that loves to dig, she has dug up most of the yard, and I am certain she will dig up the plants if I plant them.
