Majority of the student population are taking up nursing. Why do you think they/ you chose this course? Is it because they/you really wanted to be a health care providers or is it because nurses are in demand these days?

Well, I have a lot of friends who are nurses, it is actually a great choice since the nursing profession is very much rewarding although very much tiring. Well, taking up nursing will certainly bring you more opportunity in going abroad and earning a higher pay. But I do not believe that such is the only reason. I know that many are taking the course because they have the passion to serve and care for people. It just so happens that here in our country the nursing profession are under paid, so obviously there is no other recourse but to go abroad to earn more.

Yes, that's absolutely right, because of the low-income for nurses here in our country they really tend to go abroad, some of them even got into hospital volunteers just to have the hospital experience and the certificate which is one of the requirement's for abroad.

Our government still encouraging to take nursing but the problem is over supply of nurses here in the Philippines. There no work here in the Philippines so they need to go to abroad for opportunity. The expenses of taking nursing is so expensive. Right now that there is an opportunity in Japan the first batch of nurses going to go there need to have 6 months training to be able to work there. My youngest sister also taking nursing she is 4th year this coming school year. My parents striving hard to send my sister to school.

Yes, I've heard about the Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreememt (JPEPA)with the help of POEA. Not only for nurses, but caregivers can also benefit the said agreement.

Many students here in the Philippinese choose Nursing because it's not just it's indemand all over the world.. Filipinos think that going abroad is a big opportunity for them to support their families.. but the question is, does Nursing really contributed much for our country?.. Many nursing students here do not pass the nursing board exams go to abroad as domestic helpers.. i think finishing their course is the way for them to go to abroad..

i think you're right xarex because if they choose to stay in the Philippines, their income can't sustain for their daily needs. They rather be working as domestic helpers because they can earn more.

The people around them could be the reason why they took up nursing. Peer and family pressure for example. Everybody in the group may take up that course and probably they don't want to be left out. But as far as we know, the real reason why there are so many student nurses now, is because they're looking forward to get the opportunity to work in other countries.
