If you don't like it, don't read it

Here is a link to the guidelines: http://www.mylot.com/o/topguidelines.aspx
If a discussion isn't to your liking but does not violate the MyLot terms, don't read it, don't rate it, and sure and heck don't report it.
If the person starting it is someone you don't like, don't even bother opening it. Go to something different by someone you do like. Don't report it.
I know some folks break the rules, but a lot of folks are getting points, cents, and discussions deleted for nothing. People who respond to discussions lose.
Some people like the chatty fun feel. Some people enjoy the discussions other folks are posting. You may be costing your friends time, money, and energy.
So think before you report.
And if you are a Troll.... get a life, you aren't gaining anything by being a jerk.

Surely the last word is with the admin who deletes the posts that get reported?
I would have thought that if the report system is being abused then MyLot would also be aware of this and would take some sort of action if a user is targetting a certain other user or users.
I also know of users that have had their discussions put back after deletion had taken place.

That is what I was implying. If they are receiving a ton of reports which are not exact and should not have been sent then it would be extra work obviously and therefore I would have thought they would have warned whoever is causing it.
I have seen that in the last few days many deletions have taken place and personally I have lost over 100 with relative earnings too but I was aware that at some point they would go. I still believe that myLot do not remove posts that are not violations but I also believe that more valid reporting is taking place.

Yeah but isn't it a waste of the MyLot administration's time to have to sort through if people are just randomly reporting discussions that aren't violations? We all know how it goes but it seems to be getting bad again.
Seems it comes and goes in waves of annoying activity.

Hi Chimes,
That is the last thing that would even enter my head, to report a discussion just because it is not to my liking. I could properly count on one hand the number of discussions, that I have reported and that was for posting referral links. I didn't even report those discussion right away, I gave a bit of friendly advice to the users that is was against the guidelines but they would not listen so then I reported it.
I have read a few discussions that I was not a fan of but I would not even rate them negatively just because I didn't like them. I have heard a lot of talk about lots of stuff being deleted recently and it is a shame if some of those deletions were not breaking any rules, after all when it happens, it hurts us all.

T,L,C, as easy as 1,2,3.......... (Every time I see your username I think of the song "ABC" by Jackson 5 for some reason!) You sing it loud 'cos I couldn't agree more. If someone's trigger happy, go join a shooting club or sign up for the LAPD! We all owe it to this site to be vigilant and help stamp out cheaters, plagiarists and the like, but people need to be realistic about what they're reporting and why, jeez! The fact that a lot of the discussions being deleted have been started by long term members just goes to show how childish and ridiculous some people can be, because the discussion starters KNOW what's what here. Anyone reading this that's a troublemaker, get over yourselves and go find a new hobby like playing Russian Roulette in your basement or something.

James what defines 'long term member' ?
Does that give them certain rights?
Does time or user reputation make them a 'long term member'?
In my books they should be the first to set an example and not the ones who think that they can get away with plagiarising because they are a 'long term member'

I must be unaware of something Chimes
However I still remain of the idea that a report will not be followed through if it is unjustified.

A steady, reliable member that knows the rules shouldn't be reported over and over again for non-violations. Time, star color, or post numbers aren't the issue.
I think that valid reporting is fine but sometimes things boarder on the dumb.

Thanks for highlighting this. There are lots of us around here enjoying discussions and whatnot and it will be totally awesome to have a more pleasant stay here in mylot and the feel too. I have the concept that if I don't like a discussion, I will not answer too, rather than just going on rounds rating - all the way. I prefer to give people chances first, and then see how it goes from there.

We can only wish that people are reading guidelines and play with the rules.
Hope some can read also your post and think twice. We are here for fun, it is so easy to avoid discussions that we don't like....

Thanks for saying this!! I totally agree with you on this one. I'm not sure what possesses people to go to something they already don't like and then bash it all to heck, or to attack someone because they don't like the user. The only time I reported someone was for being a troll.... someone who stole my avatars and went around typing 'poop' in every discussion lol.
It wasn't long before they were removed from the mylot community, the same will happen to other trolls or people who believe they can continue to come here and be a jerk and get away with it. Also, it should be said that people who do that will NOT make any money. This isn't a get rich quick place, but it's fun if you use it the way it is intended. It's a very nice small source of income, and they are consistent, I've never had a problem.

YAAAA MAN, YOU ROCK!!!To all those who feel or because of this, we give a to you. Ya we do spend a lot of time and energy for those discussions and responses we post.
If you don't like someone's jokes or if you are against laughing altogether or free thinking, then hey, IT AIN'T OTHERS PROBLEM. So don't make it their's...
Ya, and I'd like to repeat TL's words,
"If you are a Troll.... get a life, you aren't gaining anything by being a jerk."

You would think it would be a no brain-er but I find the need to remind folks fairly often...
That and "don't ask the question if you don't want people to answer it" How many discussions have you seen that had people getting mad at what people are saying in response to what ever they asked or said? Duh... not every one is going to say... "oh you are soooooo right"
People are so weird.

I was confused, i never thought there are problems like this here in mylot. I mean we really dont know each other, we were world apart, so how can we get too serious about other comments/duscussion whether its negative or positive. I dont know if i get your discussion correctly.

Hang out here often enough and you'll Know people. You find yourself talking with certain people more then others and when you disagree with the same folks over and over, or if you stand up for your thoughts and friends, some one can get angry and start doing things like (-) rating and false reporting.

Mostly the violation occurs on make extra money interest segment. Mostly new users who haven't know the guidelines here made those violations. I think it's unfair for them if someone reporting it without prior notice them about the guidelines. But if their violation persist, then a report is make sense. In my opinion, here in mylot we should helping each other to be a good mylotter, not to attacking each other. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Many violations do occur there and as the Guidelines are the same for all the users whether old or new the same deletions take place. If a ref link is in a discussion by a new user then Ido warn them not to do it -
and receive back what they think I deserve for having informed them that there are rules here
Not all of them are as 'new' as they appear to be

Who was that for Chimes?
I get along with everyone except those who expect to come here and be allowed to cheat. They cannot leave a site that is no longer paying and expect to come here and do the same thing they were doing there ao that the Lot goes down too! Spamming is not allowed anywhere!

Oh they love to ruin other's lives, hardwork and morale... I'm not sure where they are coming from and I hope their PC's hang until they can't even use it anymore. Be very careful in choosing friends coz they might be the one looking out at your profile and stalking your newly posted discussions... I think its also time for me to clean mine... lol...

With as many different topics that are discussed on mylot everyone will eventually come across a topic that they don't like. That's a given. Some people just don't get it I guess and get offended pretty easily when they come across a topic that they don't like and when they do they act immature and start reporting everything. You would hope that everyone here could just act like adults but I guess not.

I agree with MYKL9999, how can i say "it sucks and leave it" if i don't even see it yet.but what's the point i don't report people, just leave it as it is and let some troll do that job. you know the other night i talked with greeneagle24 who got suspended. asked about mylot and his friends. i told him jokingly that "they forgot about you". and he said "time flies by" "when i get back, il be a real good boy", i just can't stop laughing. but i must admit, trolls are just leached in this site because the can't send their anger directly so they would just sneak in and choose their target to annoy and Delete.

They have, They have also taken my posts, changed the wording a bit and called it their own. Funny thing happened. People started noticing and though this person is still on the lot they don't start near as many discussions and none are too much like mine.

I have read the guidelines and always try to follow them. But now a days my replies count is decreasing every day and the amount of decrease is not tell. Every day 5-10 of my replies are getting deleted. I am not sure but I think a group of people may working against me and they are reporting my responses which are not violating the rules. I don't know whether the admin finally deletes the replies or it is an automatic system but I am suffering for it. I think other people should not do this to me. Here we all are earning and enjoying the site. I don't understand what is the motives of those people who are working against me. It will not help them in either way so why the are doing this. I feel so bad.

Personally, my time is just too valuable to be reading material from people I don't value their opionion. I am the first one to admit to liking a good "fight", hopefully learning something in the process. Even if you disagree, there is value in diversity.
Every one is entitled to their opinion and say, however; that dosn't mean you have to read it. Why waste your time saying something bad,(if you can't say something good don't say anything at all), unless ofcoarse it's cantrary to myLot standards. There's enough valuable discussions on the site that you don't have to go looking for trouble or stirring the pot.
