Do you click positive and negative ?????

Many a soul, particularly the newbies do not know that they are to rate (positive/negative) they have responded to any discussion. Even many veterans do not bother to click on that.
Now as there is a question (for many, but not me) reputation that even not having any good grab over the discussion topic and let alone the command over the English Language are too serious of the color of the star as they think even if they are fool a red ore blue star would place them among the elites.
Hence do you click before or after you have responded or commented on the right hand side button of plus and minus?

I used to have this kind of discussion before but it seem not bother others... to me, I always rate first before I start to respond. Rating is for point that you will get and it means a lot for each one of us but no one seem to care... but any way, I got you positive :)

I do rate other people's comments and responses but I seldom do that. I only rate responses or comments negative only if their comments or responses are kinda rude.. I hate that. Everyone is welcome here on myLot, right? Everyone is born as an individual so they should also respect other people's opinions. As for the positive ones, I seldom do that but I do rate those sensible ones.
Happy myLotting!

I have been here for years and I don't think to use the "+" or "-" unless a discussion moves me.

The star color is how the MyLot community feels about you. It is sort of a self moderation tool. People can do what they will with the tool unfortunately.
Seems like most new members don't bother to read the TOS or the guidelines or anythign else they agree to upon sign up. Not much you can do about that other than reporting them to MyLot.

Hello sedel, My sincere respect to you as you are quite senior here. But of late this has become an issue that a star colour determines your identity and status. I have been always rating plus but some are there who would rate you negative witout any reason.

I guess I'm one of the veterans. LOL And as a veteran I still rate discussions. Though I normally rate with a plus instead of a minus. Even if I disagree with what was said I will rate it a positive. It is very rare for me to rate discussions/responses with a negative. In fact, I haven't done so for some time now.
Another fellow mylot veteran pointed out that when it comes to discussions we should always rate them, especially if we respond to them. It's one way to keep track of discussions we have responded to.
Happy mylotting!

Well, for me, I just rate positively on every discussion that I participate in as well as all the replies and responses that I get in such posts that I give in any discussion for that matter. I also rate positively anyone who finds time to participate in discussions that I myself started. That's the least I could do for their efforts anyway (^_^ )

Actually, I just rate them positively before so that I would know that I have posted my response in that discussion. There were timse wherein I have participated in a discussion but, I am not sure if one is the same with the one I have dealt with so, I have to search through all the posts just in case that I have already posted my comment. With the discussion being rated, I wouldn't have to go and look for my post and instead just move on to other discussions.
I have been doing that until it has become a habit. (^_^ )

I do the rating in the discussions I start or I respond. Mostly I look for positive discussions and rate them +. I rarely rate negative. But I rated one or two discussions negative as they looked just non-contributive and not agreeable. Otherwise, I just read the entire discussion and rate + the best responses.

This is an important discussion. I think we must all rate to keep p with the system. The star colors, ratings follow that. As for myself:
1. I rate POSITIVE the discussions I am going to respond to. That is just after reading through and deciding to respond on it.
2. I rate all my responders POSITIVE no matter what.
3. I remember on a couple of occasions rating negative and even reporting when the user went overboard with apartheid and hate speeches.
Thanks.

To rate is part of our participation here and that is also the requirements of this site. I have not failed in my duties to rate others as far as I can remember and before I forget I rate first before I put in my comments and it is always positive. For those out there do not fear going to my discussions for you'll always get a good rating from me regardless of agreeing or disagreeing to my topic. But the only thing that would not benefit from my positive rating are those who are offensive and put curse words in their responses and also those spammers. I will not have second thoughts when I minus them cos they don't deserve to get one. As for those stars, they are there more as decorative items and a challenge for members to get to the highest star rating. But from my observation and experience they are really valueless but of course there is prestige being in the blues. But not all the blue holders deserve having one as you can see how pathetic their posts are. Heaven knows how they got there. But tell you, we might have admitted the wrong people in our friends list as I believe they are wolf in the sheep's clothing. They never response to any of our discussions but are stalking us to rate us negatively for their personal satisfaction. These are people without capabilities and are jealous to see others progress. You better start downsizing your list and delete those who don't deserve to be in your list. I say this not without basis. I have every reason to believe that am a victim of this hate attitude and maybe you are also same like me.

Hi xarex, I am a long time member here and I have done my own observation why my star remain stagnant and why newbies are promptly elevated to higher star rating even though they have not done much participation. I am not about to reveal it here but I can say it is our own friends who are putting us down. Since they are the first to see our discussions and are able to check our progress and tag along to rate us negatively. Why they do that is explained in my response here. It is in human nature to despise those who are vocal and honest. But I think it is unfair to pinpoint who the culprits are. let karma teach them a good lesson.

Hi zandi, that is the point I have been wondering as to how come those who are not capable of writing ten good lines are all blues and those who are much superior in their attitude and quality writings are with the lower stars? This is disgusting and I feel this rating should be removed and only than a healthy discussion would be possible.

Hi my friend! I'm still a newbie here and I don't think some of us do that thing for their own sake... For me, I just trust my friends.. Not to mention but I have this friend whom I sent a message asking for his e-mail address then just responded
"I don't give my primary e-mail address to web strangers like you.."
Maybe this person thinks that I could do something about his e-mail.. As the saying "Thinkers are doers." then what he is thinking is what he is doing.. I felt really angry with that kind of response..
while most of my friends are friendly that they always help me with my questions about mylot when I just started..
Well, how did you know that you are a victim of those wolves in the sheep's clothing?...

I stand guilty. I usually dont grade a discussion and just carry on. I suppose I can help somebody by grading. Does our grading a person affect his earnings or star ratings. If so, I'll try and be more careful. I have never rated anybody negative, but to rate everybody positive is also not fair, or is it.

Hi Rajib,
Soul! What a great thought?
No, I am not that kind of a person who believes in negative rating. If you are the one who is getting my response or comments then you can be assured that you will be gettiong a + from my side and I only respond to those discussion which I understand and like. Hence I give rating for discussion but not for a user based on star color!

Hi Rajib! I have just got into the habit of rating discussions and comments etc. I used to forget all the time but I am now doing it almost every time. I usually respond and then I go back and rate. I generally rate positive unless there is a reason not to. Unfortunately of late there have been a couple of nasties, but all in all I think most discussions have their good points and deserve a +!

Yes, I always rate a positive and a negative in my discussions. If I like the responses I rate positive and if the responses insulted me or directly criticize my personal opinion and not sticking to the topic, that's when I rate a negative mark. Some responses are ridiculous because it did not address the real topic.

I hardly ever rate negative because I don't like to be rated negatively so I don't do it to others either. :) There are some rare cases where people are just rude or offensive. When that happens, I will probably rate them negative. Most people will do that I think. I do however rate a lot of posts positively! I know how much fun it is and how happy it makes me when my ranking improves! It makes you feel appreciated, and therefore when I think someone's post is good, I will give that person a postive rating. I don't really care that much about my star, but I just enjoy knowing people like my posts!

I usually rate positive. In the discussions that I reply, I usually rate the discussion starter and don't bother the the other replies unless their are few that replied to the thread. On my discussion opened, I rate everybody a plus. I only rated people a minus if they are insulting people in mylot and doesn't respect the opinions of others. Also I rate a negative rating if they put adult sites in mylot. :)
