Our body is made up mostly of water and mostly we do sweat and we do tend to lose water if we perform our activities of daily living. water is our body cleasnser and i really believe we need it. i think i meet the 8 glasses a day requirement. Its about close to 2 liters right? Anyway, do you always drink water? or do you prefer other drinks?=)

Well said dear friend. This topic is really a good one. I drink almost 4 liters of water daily excluding other liquids like juice and others. I don't know why, but I really feel very thirsty, and my stomach feels like burning always. So every now or then, I keep on having a glass of water. Thanks to God, that I have an office job. If i were having any marketing job, and I have to visit outside frequently, how could I manage to drink safe water, and how could I manage to go for loo. LOL!
As much we drink water, the more we have to go for that.

I guess most of us have learned about the importance of drinking enough water everyday for healthier body in our grade school. Our science teacher always reminded us to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. But I only diligently followed this advice lately after reading much about the benefits of water. It also happened that a friend's sister had health trouble and the doctors simply told her that the problem was caused by lack of water in her body.
Right now, I drink 2-3 glasses of water upon waking up. And, 30 minutes before every meal, I drink another glass. This helps me not to eat much and to avoid drinking anything during meal. (I am trying to cut down on food intake because my nieces and nephew said I'm too fat now.) So far, I sweat more than before but I feel much much better than when I did not drink enough water.

I think I categorize myself as "heavy" water drinker. I took a full cup of water every time I drink. I also drink a full 1 liter bottle size of water every after taking a breakfast, lunch or dinner. I like water very much, particularly cooled water. :)

Drink water according to your weight. As a general guide, for every 2 pounds of weight, an ounce of water is required. See the formula in: http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/how-much-water-should-you-drink-a-day.html

You are right. In fact water helps our bodies to expel the toxins it has ingested from the food we eat, the air we breathe from the environment. I've been trying to keep up to the goal of drinking 8 glasses of water per day but sometimes just not able to do so. Without enough water our bodies will be laden by the toxins which made us feel lethargic and we can get sick easily. The first sign of dehydration is not when we feel our throats are dry but from the color of our urine. If it's yellow to dark yellow it means we are dehydrated. We need to drink more water especially in the hot climate in my city.

I tend to be off and on with water. Some days I drink 8 -10 glasses other days I don't drink any. I really have to force myself to drink anything, sometimes I don't drink anything except my coffee in the morning, then it's 8 o'clock at nite and I realize that I haven't drank a thing all day. The next few days I really focus on drinking water, I don't understand it really, I live where it is really hot, you would think that I would be thirsty all the time. So I am really focusing on trying to drink a lot more water and some green tea every day.

Hi,
I can't say that I am a water drinker. I tend to pick up juice before water. Its a habit. I do like really cold water but whenever the time to drink, I quickly would grab a juice not thinking about it. I need to drink for water and be well hydrated since I have severe migraines but with all of things I have to do esp take care of two toddlers I just grab what I can. I am in the process of changing all of this and put my self on a schedule and plan. Its not because I desire to, its because of my disease, I have to. I know I have to be displeasant about staying on this health plan with water for insatnce because I love juice. I love the way it taste. I love smoothies. It just me. I also like flavored water but its not as health as water.
Wishing you all the best,
Take care

Interesting to point out, I hope I don't sound rude, but the recommended is actually about half of your body weight in ounces. So, for example, if you weigh 120 pounds, you should have 60 ounces of water. That's like, the new thing, which of course, you know, how many times have we heard milk is gonna kill us?

i don't really count how much water i drink per day , i only drink water when i feel thirsty , but when the weather is very hot, i prefer to have a cold drink instead of water , or maybe drink water with some ice tube in it .

Yes I drink 10 glasses a day.. water is good and as you've said, water is actually about 66% of our body.. And I think even if we eat less then drink enough amount of water, we can do our daily activities normally.. I've learned from my mistakes after I've got operated because I lack of sleep and seldom drink water..
