glow worms?

YES! But I dont know if there is a living variety!
When I was a kid, we had toys that were called glow worms. They were about 3 inches tall. When you let them sit out in the light (or put them next to the light bulb) they would glow! They were always one of my favorite toys. Mom always let us take them to bed with us. They were fun to play with.
I would imagine that there are some glow worms. If fireflys can glow, why not something else too?

There are such a thing as glowworms. I think what you may have saw was a railroad worm. These worms usually have yellow lights on the side of their skin, and have a red light at the front. These kinds of glow worms are found in North and South America. There's also a species known as Arachnocampa, which are found mainly in caves in New Zealand and Australia. These have more of a whitish glow, and when a bunch of them are gathered together, may look like a starry night sky. I don't know where you are geographically, but those 2 are pretty worm-like, so if you see either of those things in your house, it's probably a glow worm.
