Do your cats follow you around the house?

My cats are constantly trying to sit in
my lap while I'm typing.
Even my Orange Cat who is not a usual lap squatter
crawled up into my lap yesterday while I was
watching Stargate Atlantis online and fell asleep.
He fell asleep, not me.
I was too enchanted by his adorableness.
Anyway, I couldn't move for over an hour for fear
he would wake up and leave.
It was a special moment.
When I finally got up after my show was over,
all four cats congregated around me while I was walking
to the kitchen resulting in a near trip and fall situation.
I think they underestimate their height versus my
ability to see them under my feet.
Anyway, do your cats follow you around your house?

There's a running joke in my house that whenever I sit down somewhere, I have about 10.2 seconds to get comfortable before I'm not going to be able to move because I'll have at least one cat curling up on me, either across my shoulder or in my lap, etc. Particularly one of my cats tends to follow me around everywhere. She even will go to my bed when she thinks it's time for me to quit for the night and go to sleep and sit there and meow until I come to bed. It's utterly adorable.

Stop it! You're making me jealous. ha ha. :o) In the past, I've had especially one darling, golden striped cat who curled up under the covers and cuddled.
Hey! As I speak, my white and black/gray patchy darling settled down on my lap. Must...stop...typing...and pet. :o)
I think cats need to be high up for yes, some dominance, but also safety. They are so little, and don't like having to look upward to see everything. They also get chased around by bigger creatures (aka dogs), and from up high they get a good, safe view of everything.

Ohh, she's pretty pushy about it. Half of the time she doesnt even wait for me to get settled before she's trying to curl up on me when I lay down ;)
I wonder if the cat having to be higher is a dominance thing, the way it is with dogs...

They really do! And, I love them too.
I dote on my cats like crazy.
Before my daughter came along, my cats
were my kids cause I didn't think I could
even have children.
I had resigned myself to life without a child.
So my cats kind of filled that void in my heart.
Still they are important to me, even now that I have
a child.
My cat EB knew that I was pregnant even before I did.
I'm convinced of it.
She would sit beside my stomach under the covers
and purr to my belly.
When I peeked under the covers at her, she would glare
at me, like, 'Do you mind! I'm having a private conversation'.
My little girl is learning to be a good cat Mama!

My cat likes to follow me around, then run quick in front of me and hide behind a chair and jump out at me. She also likes to hop on my lap while I am computing and rest her head on my mouse arm so I can't move it. When I am lying in bed to read, she likes to lay on my chest with her head under the book or magazine. She is such a little love-kitten!

I no longer have a cat but it sounds to me as though yours thought you were going to feed them. Mine did used to follow me around. I think sometimes, they're naturally nosey. I don't mind them sitting on my lap either but I do dislike them digging their claws in trying to make your legs comfortable enough for them. Ouch!!! lol.
Brightest Blessings my friend.

Oh what joy! :o)
One of my kitties follow me around, though not all the time. ;o) And the wee cases when she sits on my lap is when I am eating something ice cold, so turn up the mini heater in my room at the computer desk. If she's feeling lovable, she'll sweetly come over, first try to plop down on the keyboard (which she probably has figured out that I really don't prefer since it has shut down my computer, made me sent messed up text emails, and makes it so I can't move my mouse).
But it's so lovely when she's on my lap. Short periods of time. But what she also does when the heater is on, is she may drape herself across, behind my neck around my shoulders! :o)
Many people don't realize how happy and contented our dear furry ones make us.

We only have one car, but yes, he frequently selects one of us to follow around until he or she sits down so that he can get in that person's lap. If the cat is meowing while following us around, it means that he wants more food to be put in his dish, which may or may not be near empty.

My cat is very affectionate, she follows me around the house all the time.
She needs to be pet before her breakfast and after her dinner....
She needs to be close as much as possible....including cuddling with my two dogs...

The only time my cat ever really follows me around is if she wants something. Usually, she follows me around whenever she is hungry and wants a specific type of food. And, when you walk around the house she's always right under your feet.
I think she thinks whenever you walk around, you're going to get food from wherever you have it stashed at the time so she follows you to see what you're doing and so she can show you which type of food she wants.
Now, all the cats we have outside, they always follow you around and are always into what you're doing. If you're working on something outside, they're playing with it, under your feet, that kind of thing.

My cats do the hunger thing too.
Everytime they're hungry, they become
my best friend.

I don't have cats, but my dog Sherlock follows me around. I've tripped once trying to avoid stepping on him. When I'm on the computer, he sometimes curls up next to my feet. Which startles me when I get up because I had no idea he was there! I've also learned to close my bathroom door all the way if I don't want him in there. He'll push the door open if it is not completely closed. More than once I've looked and seen him peaking at me behind the shower curtain.

I just have one cat, and he's not much of a lap sitter expect late in the evening, but he'll still follow me around the house when he's not sleeping. Especially if I walk into the kitchen where his food is. Even with just him underfoot, sometimes I accidentally step on or kick him.

Mostly my female cats are the lap sitters.
But this one time, my male kitten, Orange Cat
wanted to be cuddled.

I don't have a cat. I have a dog. But yes she follows me everywhere. and I do mean everywhere. When I go to the bathroom to go potty she comes in and sits at my feet. lol. I wouldn't have it any other way though. She is my baby.

Chloe is pretty independent, but for the most part, I can't go anywhere that I don't end up with three cats there, too. They can be sound asleep, but they will sense that I have gone and will go looking for me and, if in a bedroom, will again lie down and go back to sleep. Chloe likes her solitude because the little one antagonizes her mercilessly, so she doesn't always follow me, but Tiki and Shady do.

Awww! Sounds like my EB when she was a kitten.
She ran around after Big Man (male cat)
and tried to make him play.
And he wanted nothing to do with her.
But eventually her charms worked on him.
He became the surrogate mother she needed.

After I posted this, my daughter ran into
the room and announced that her little cat
had tripped her.
Poor baby!

My cats do follow me, when they are not outside capturing fledgeling Robins. My black cat does not so much, but the two tabby guys do. The adorable Creamery does his best to trip me down the stairs in the morning. He then goes outside and collects baby robins that do not fly yet and puts them down in the kitchen and goes out to get another. We have a nest.

We only have one cat, but sometimes he can be as much of an attention hog as 4 cats. He always jumps into my husband's lap when he's using his desktop PC, and he tries to push my laptop off of my lap, and get in there. I'm better at gently disciplining the cat than my husband is, because shakti doesn't bug me as much when I'm on line. He knows if he sits next to me, and licks my hand occasionally (don't bite, lick!!), I'll pet him.
As for following us around, he does that too. Sometimes he gets under our feet. You'd think that a cat living in a house with two almost-blind people would have learned by now how DANGEROUS that is! LOL
Go on line and look up today (Sept 1st 2009) Garfield cartoon, and that will eplain Shakti to you pretty well.

just the black cat.
his nickname is "trauma cat" because if he can't see me for two seconds he starts wailing.the other two for the most part are too busy napping.they had a hard day of doing nothing,y'know LOL
