One of the quintessential summer flicks for me is Grease. There are a couple of reasons for this. I was just a kid on a softball team when it came out and I remember the older girls, who were allowed to watch it (which I was not) singing all of the songs from it all summer long. I learned the songs long before I saw the movie. My favorite scene is Olivia Newton John in her nightgown singing "Hopelessly Devoted To You" in the backyard as she longed for her newfound love (Played by John Travolta). My second favorite song in the movie is "Summer Loving" and it is interesting to see how, in the song at least, the interests of the girls are different from those of the boys when it comes to a summer romance. It is quite comical. I could watch it over and over again, all I really need is some popcorn and a big glass of cherry Kool Aid. (Ah, a return to summers of my youth...)

I was 6 1/2 years old when I saw this movie in 1978. I sat in the front row with a friend of mine. On the way home we listened to the soundtrack on 8 track and sang along. It is a very vivid memory.
I saw it again in 1998 in the theater for the 20th anniversary. There were so many young people in there that were not even born yet and I felt so old.
It's a great movie!

I was not allowed to watch the movie myself until I was older. I remember I was so angry because some of my friends could and some couldn't. Everyone was talking about the movie. One of the greatest movies and I can watch it over and over again. My 11 year old daughter loves it just as much, it carries on in the years.
