The diet industry is BIG business. It rakes in over 80 BILLION dollars per year in the USA...and about 95% repeat business. That means that people are going from diet plan to diet plan, to pills to machines that promise weight loss from doing a simple sit-up, etc... What it REALLY means is this: DIETS DON'T WORK.
This is why: When you go on a "diet'" you lose some fat, some water, some 'intestinal' weight, and some muscle. When you go off the diet, you gain back everything except the muscle (usually).
The problem here is that muscle is your fat-burning metabolism. The more muscle (or 'lean mass')your body has, the more calories your body burns everyday, even while you sleep. If you want to lose weight, you cannot afford to lose any muscle.
The ONLY proven way to lose weight permanently (other than surgery...) is to learn healthy eating, changing your relationship with food, and exercise. Exercise, especially resistance training, will increase your lean mass (muscle) and increase your metabolism. One of the reasons for this is that in order to 'store' one pound of muscle, it "costs' your body about 60-80 calories (roughly). To store a pound of fat, it costs your body about 6-8 calories. Muscle takes up less space than fat, so if you were to lose 10lbs of fat and gain 10lbs of muscle...you would be smaller in size and you would burn 600 (or so)more calories a day...just breathing.
So, what I suggest is that you get moving (exercise) ASAP. Start eating 5-6 small meals a day. Cut out soda and start drinking water. Focus more on your size than weight. Take your measurements when you start and don't bother with the scale. When you exercise regularly, you might weigh more and wear a smaller size.
Exercise is the key. I cannot stress that enough. If you would like to know more specific exercises, send me a message. Good luck and don't give up!!

Just a note: It costs your body 60-80 calories PER DAY to store a pound of muscle, and about 6-8 calories PER DAY to store a pound of fat...

Thats alot to loose in short period of time but here goes. There are a few things you can do. First of all start with portion control. Take the smallest plate or bowl in your home and only eat that amount of food, no seconds. If you only have big plates then fill only half the plate, again no seconds. Do not drink soda and limit your intake of sweets and sugars. Eat plenty of fruits, veggies and salads. Drink plenty of water and walk, walk, walk. Good luck to you and let me know how it turns out for you!

There is not a safe way to loose 30 pounds in that amount of time...However i was like you...but im 5'2 and was 180lbs...So i went to an all water diet no soda's...and i ate alot of fruits daily. and I walked around our block for about an 1 hour DAILY.....If you start it you just have to keep with it otherwise you can hang it up and its not going to help you. And i have 2 children whom keep me very active as well. and when i ate i cut down on the fats i didnt eat alot because when you drink water it makes you feel full or so it does me so i dont eat a lot.I am not 5'2 still and 127lbs but it took longer than a month to get that weight. You can call a doctor and ask to set you up a good diet plan as well.

30lbs in a month in a half is a lot of weight to lose. I would set your goals a little lower so that you don't get discouraged! I have two great programs I would love to recommend to you. I've had success on both of them. The first one is Weight Watchers. www.weightwatchers.com . Weight watchers allows you to eat what you want as long as it's within your daily points. It sounds complicated, but once you go to a meeting or join online and read how it works, it's really not. I've had a lot of success with Weight Watchers. It really works.
I've also had a lot of success with Paul McKenna's book "I Can Make You Thin." His book and hypnosis cd is all about eating only until you're satisfied. This has really helped me change my lifestyle.
Good luck to you!

I lost 30lbs but not in a month's time. That is almost impossible. If you do loose that much it will surely come back and you might even gain more. I lost 30 lbs in maybe more than six months of walking uphill for an hour. It was fun though and never felt as if it were a torture. I love walking it is so refreshing. The key is to love what you do and don't take it as a chore or never impose it to yourself otherwise you will end up a failure. Walk, walk, and walk. Walk at leasst 10,000 steps everyday to have healthier body. However, if you want to loose weight, walk at least 12,000 steps a day or more. Go, grab a pedometer so that you will be able to track your steps. 12,000 steps can usually be reached by walking about 1 and half hours or more. Walk on your way to the office, or going to the mall. If you love to shop, go and walk in the mall. The bigger the mall, the bigger your coverage. Have a walking buddy. She can motivate you to do more steps. Goodluck.

There is no safe way to lose 30 pounds in a month and a half. I am sorry. Safe and lasting weight loss is about 2 lbs a week. The only way to lose that amount that quickly is liposuction. And even with that, it might not be 100% healed by Carnival.
All you can do is try to make better food choices that you can live with so that they will become habits for life rather than a diet. Fad diets just aren't good for you and they don't really work all that well.
Good luck!

Start a high fiber diet and walk a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. Make those steps aerobic, which is fast enough to get your heart pumping. You should try to eat at least 35 grams of fiber and drink at least 64 oz of water a day.

take the stairs! I find it very helpful since I'm very lazy to go to a gym and I never want to give up my burgers and ice creams.. so I take the stairs everyday to office and to my apartment. It helps alot. =)
