Yep it was good. The guys weren't quite as hot as I expected them to be :-(
But they weren't bad either.
I really liked the story line. I liked getting the little "biographies" of the main characters.
All around, I give it a thumbs up!
Have you seen it yet?
I have never considered myself a trekkie, but I did watch the show when I was growing up.
I HATE those little slugs that they stick in people! I remembered that from one of the previous Star Trek movies. Yuk!
What are your thoughts about the movie. Did you watch the show growing up.
Did you like the other movies? I liked the first one and probably the second, but they started losing me after that.
Did you have a favorite episode, if you watched the show? Or a favorite character?

About the guys, I'd have to disagree with you slightly. Although I wasn't too big on Kirk, there was something, and you'll laugh when I say this, but there was something irresistably sexy about Spock of all characters! He wasn't exactly the best looking guy ever, and he's definitely not my type (I'm not into getting stabbed by a guys ears every time we try to kiss)but there was just...something, you know, it was hot!

Yeah it was GREAT!! I just have a couple of bones to pick even though I loved the movie they spoke about the Cling ons but never showed people what they were. Good thing I 've been a star trek fan for a while and now but what about the younger crowds? Not to mention nobody ever said not even once: "BEAM ME UP, SCOTTIE" Other than that it was AWESOME!! They did a good job picking out the characters. :)

But Scottie did say those immortal words 'I can't give her any more Captain she'll blow' I have never been a fan of the Romulans and I think they should have had Klingons instead which would have made more sense as you said they spoke about them and we could have seen them as the enemy.

I've only watched one or two Star Trek shows and am definitely not a Trekkie. I've just come from another discussion where the poster had watched it and thought it was excellent, and they'd also watched the latest Terminator DVD and given that a thumbs up. I don't know whether that takes your interest as well.
Brightest Blessings.

I saw it..I LOVED it!!
I never really liked /Star Trek growing up but this movie has made me a trekkie lol
I loved that the actors, for the most part looked and acted enough like the original people that you BELIEVED they were just younger versions of themselves.
I actually have seen it twice. It was so good I just had to see it again

Hey there! I really enjoyed the movie. I think it's one of the best movies this year. I liked how the story progressed and I also liked the special effects. I didn't watch the original series but I did watch Star Trek: The Next Generation. The other Star Trek movies were not as good as this one.

I wasn't so keen on Next Generation too many characters that irritated me, I liked John Luc Picard played by Patrick Stewart a wonderful actor. I much prefer Voyager to be honest although I was brought up on the original series, but Next Generation no, didn't have the same interest for me.

I have yet to see the new Star Trek movie as yet but it is one I will definitely be going to see. I loved the show, my Mam used to watch it all the time when I was growing up as a kid so I blame her for my addiction lol.
I loved the original series and also the Next Generation. I was not much of a fan of DS9 but Voyager was pretty good.

I absolutely loved it, my best friend Paul took to me see it on my birthday last Monday at the big Imax complex in Waterloo, London. I do consider myself a Trekkie but I am more of a Voyager fan to be honest although I did used to sit with my father to watch the original. I have to say that my favourite character was Chekov. To me there were no inconsistencies and it followed 'logic' it was a nice touch having Leonard Nemoy back as the old Spock. The only downside was the Romulans, I wasn't over struck on them to be honest. Those little slugs appeared in the film Wrath of Khan which was Star Trek II. I did get fed up with the continuation of the Star Trek movies, I do prefer the shorter episodes rather than the films but this was an exception, whether it was down to the special effects or the storyline was done much better, it was great watching the young characters and knowing the adventures they'd get up to! But I did thoroughly enjoy it and it kept my interest throughout the film. Definitely thumbs up and definitely recommend it.

I've not seen the new Star Trek yet. From all previews I've seen it looks a little better than decent at least--possibly even awesome (always a skeptic until I've seen a movie, plus in the case of movies deciding they'll probably suck to begin with makes it more likely they'll be pleasantly surprising). I've seen all the movies from the original Trek and Next Generation, and have caught segments of each series, but I'd hardly call myself a Trekkie. (of Trekker, according to Fanboy--heehee) But, knowing a bunch of old school Trekkies--they hate it. Oh well, I gotta' see it before I have a verdict.

I watched the original one from 1966-69. I didn't watch the newer tv versions cause I was spoiled by the first one. I have seen the movies which had some of the original people and we are hoping to get to see the new one soon. I recently introduced my 7 year old grandson to my favorite episode "the Trouble with Tribbles" and he loved it. I can't say who my favorite was though I liked Kirk, Spock and Scotty the best.

I have seen Star Trek on the first day of its showing. It brought me back to the days when I was a little boy. The effects is much more far advance. It made me feel young again. I am happy to see Spoc again. I hope there will be another television series for Star Trek.

In my case, I feel sorry to say that i can't react much to this kind of movie you are talking about because i am not so interested to watch fiction movie . It's not funny or inviting to watch for me when the movie is full of fiction and not based on real life. I would prefer to watch love story which, in some cases, gives us lessons to handle love life, suspense... because it is full of thrills and also drama.I also like scary movie except that sometimes i have to close my eyes in the worst situation. But im not saying also that fiction movie is bad,in fact, a lot of people i know like to watch it. But since each and everyone have different taste, so is mine.

I haven't seen it as yet, but being a Trekkie fan, I am looking forward to it. As I grew up I watched if from the very start with Captain Kirk, then Next Generation, Deep Space 9 and voyager. I think I have seen everyone of them. I can't say I have a facvorite character, as I see each of them as representatives of various cultures we have and have had here on earth. Samuria, Vikings, Native Americans - their all there.. - Derek

I watched it recently. I actually tried to avoid watching it because I really thought it was going to be a terrible movie especially after what happened with star trek enterprise. But I think the main thing that made it good was the fact that the story took place in an alternate universe and thus did not follow the actual star trek time line. Overall, it was a really good movie and I am glad I watched it.

okay so i am a trekkie oh yes and OMG, that movie was so awesome. iloved it from start to finish, i laughed i cried. i filled in the back story for my sister who is not into star trek at all. i have watched the original star trek, new generation, voyager, deep space nine and enterprise. i used to watch like 8 or so episodes at a time oh man, i love star trek me and my best friend. we have marathon trek sessions, know the various star ships, the alien races, i could talk trek all day. i am even making a pilgrimage to vulcan this summer, i.e vulcan alberta.
i loved the movie because it was an alternate story line because in the original uhura hooks up with kirk. that was the first interracial kiss ever shown on tv. it was pretty extreme for back in the day. i loved it and the characters were so spot on, i almost wept when i saw the old spock, omg it was awesome that he got a role there. just everything about it was awesome, the way it was shot and the action sequences, right down to the swagger of kirk. i loved the inner turmoil that spock was experiencing, because you never really get to see it to that extent in the series because he is older and has learnt that vulcan self control and to better suppress his human side.
and i think that the boys were very gorgeous, omg chris pine and zachary quinto mmmmmmmm. i have loved zachary since he played sylar in heroes. i love his clean shaven look and vulcan hairstyle and those eyebrows too cute. okay that aside, as a trekkie i did not find this revitalization of the franchise offensive. i thought there would be chance that it might not be done right or remain true to the story but jj abrams, YOU ROCK!!
