Does this annoy you too?

It really annoys me when I start a discussion here because I need help with something and then someone answers "sorry, can't help you" or something like that. If they can't help, then why do they even reply? Can the admin consider this kind of reply as spam? Just a suggestion...

Actually it does annoy me partly because i feel its wasting my time and theirs for them to just say sorry i cant help you. As well it annoys me because im sure theres a rule in the guidelines that says something about not responding unless you have something of value to contribute to the discussion. It goes along with the dont thank everyone who replies to your discussion rule.
Seeing someone go along and post unhelpful answers or even just saying thank you to every single response drives me nuts.
I'll find em. - ok the one one I;m thinking of is the Me too (they should have the "i dont know" in there too!
"Don't Post "Me Too!" messages; add something of substance to the conversation."
"Don't Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings."

This is what you were looking for:
'Please make sure you give your best effort to respond with quality responses. If you don’t know how to respond to a discussion, go on to the next one. Answers like “I don’t know” or “I don’t care” don’t help anyone and will be removed.'
It's is the 'do's'

Yes it's a 'do'
I think many skip and go to the 'don'ts' forgetting the 'do's' but they always go hand in hand so we should remember to check them out too.
Happy Lotting!

Hi Angel,
I think the rule is, if you are trying to find a solution here for your real life, i am not saying this is impossible, but there is a possibility that people really can't help. And more over, you start a disccussion trying to find some method, people have their rights to reply you, is there any problems? I don't think so, you can't blame people if you want them to lend you money but they don't, isn't it?

Yes, it's possible that people really can't help. So if they can't help, they might as well not reply because it is such a waste of time. Those who reply but really can't help are just those people who think that they will earn money as long as they are replying. I just want to keep the quality of the posts, that's all. People have a right to reply as you said, but it is also in the myLot rules that the replies must be relevant and thoughtful.

Iv had that happen in my topics many times, Iv also been guilty of posting such an answer like the kind you speak of, but it dosent bother me so much as long as all the replays I recive are not duds, I think that the most important thing is that someone cared enough to even read my discussions and make an attempt to respond now id prefer a more helpful responds to my discussions, but ultimately I'm thankful for all the responses I get as long as there not in direct violation of any mylot rules, so to me the occasional dud answer is not that big of deal.

I hate when people do that! Or they post referral links. Or they post something that has absolutely nothing to do with the question you asked, or the best, when they post something that makes absolutely no sense. When I participate in conversations, I like to have real conversations! Whenever I get a bad response, I usually mark it as negative.

I hate it too when people post links. It's a sure way to get a whole discussion deleted.

Ya, i'll quite disappointed and a little feeling annoyed too if i were you, getting such reply. You may say that as a spam too, i'll agree, and i believe that person will not get any earning for that response too. That's just crap. If you're really get annoyed and received quite some times of that kind of response, perhaps you may consider to report it to the myLot admin. Maybe they'll give you some suggestions too. Happy myLotting. :)

Yes that would be a good idea about spamming those kind of answers.. If you have questions for something, not everyone is going to have the answer for you.. Generally when I am looking for a new discussion to add my two cent in, I pick a topic that either I know, been through, someone else that I know, or else I do not respond to the question at all.. Guess some people need to be paid everytime they read a blog, regardless if there is really nothing to be said.. But as the person that starts the discussion, a way to get this types of people to stay off you discussions is to rate them negatively.. Just for simply not answering the question and/or something like that... One suggestion would be, when you are starting a new discussion explain to the reader that you need help and not pity..

I am sure that it is done just to get the credit for the response. I have answered some like this but I always try to offer an idea of what I think I would do to find an answer. I don't know that admin would consider that spam, but I guess it could be. It seems that people will also answer with something that doesn't apply to the subject at all. That annoys me!!

What that translates to is that the person is hoping to get paid for a response without providing any substantial answer. I don't know if admin deletes those or what they do about them, but I agree, if you don't have anything of substance to add, then don't bother with a response.

You can rate them negatively which ultimately affects them.
I must admit that I have left a response that includes 'I cant answer your question.' If I do that, though, I always include something else that is relevant!
I think too many people consider this a way to make tons of money. They think if they leave a huge number of responses they will earn a ton of money. They just havent learned better yet!
I hope you get answers to your questions despite those annoying responses!

Hello,
I think is should be considered a spam, and it is sucha shame, I mean the last thing someone will want to see ina responce to a question that they are asking is sorry I can't help you. I mean that is common since to not type anything at all, besides it is sucha waste of time, when you could be opening another post that you do have the answer or some kind of advice to, I'm sure that you would agree that their are many differnt disscussions that are on MY Lot.
Happy My Lotting!

Well, i haven't necessarily started many discussions, only one, but I do see a few people in questions and answers who reply "Don't know the answer" or "I really can't help you" and it seems like they're wasting your time and theirs trying to waste their post counts. It is spam, it does annoy me, but I don't come across it a lot so it's not a big thing to me. Good suggestion.

What so many do not realize is that it is not just posting that earns you money. You have to post something that is of relevance and adds to the post. Coming in and saying Oh I am sorry I can not help you, is not going to earn you any money.
One of my pet peeves are discussions that well are not really discussions. Someone saying how many times can you post a period............................................
without pasting..
really that is a post...

I guess those annoying people are only answering topics to get some points, not to help others. They should be considered as spam though. I had the same experience with you too, some people can be very rude in answering my topics, but I'm disappointed because there is no "block this person" button in MyLot.
