Usually I have preferred branded PCs. Many manufacturers offer good flexibility in the add-ons and upgrades you can choose, so you can get the machine you want at a good price.
Unless the person assembling the PC is very knowledgeable and has plenty of experience, there is quite a good chance that the components used will not be an ideal match. If you buy a branded PC from a reputable manufacturer, you are likely to get a machine with compatible components cheaper (because they have the buying power to get huge discounts for a bulk order).
A well-known manufacturer also has a reputation to maintain and, usually, a far more efficient after-sales service (though you may have to pay for it) - be aware that if you hear bad things about service, you are ONLY hearing the bad things: people rarely report excellent service!

Well, I have an assembled TFT desktop computer. Had I bought a branded one then it would been more costlier and I have seen in my friend's case that they don't even provide good after-sales-service anyway.

You have a point here....but if one is serious in his works and if one wants unlimited internet connections and sits in front of computer for more than 10hours and all, branded ones are better..what do you say? as branded ones comes with original softwares and not prone to virus attacks and all like the problem you have in assembled ones

I don't agree with you that branded computers are better in fighting viruses. If you install a good anti-virus and spyware software in an assembled computer then you will not get a virus. And let me tell you, Internet connection speed has nothing to do with, whether you have an assembled computer or branded one.

Depends on what sort of work you do using a computer.I think, if you are seriously into fields like web development and have to be online for more than 10 hours a day and all, branded ones are preferable...

i prefer going for a assembled one..
if u rr taking a laptop go for company one.
buy assembling u can select what components u want and which company so the flexibility is there in aseembling.
when u r buying a branded one i think u will not get individual gurantee ..ie gurantee for mb hdd seperate .
u will get only 1 yr or 3yr warrnty..
this problem is no there in assembling.
branded one costs high also .
so i recommened assembled

Ok. But cost wise it branded ones may be too high compared to assembled ones right? Then again, i think it depends on, for what purpose you are using the computer ? if you profession is with computer field and you need to work more on graphics, internet connections etc, betterto go for branded ones...otherwise, if you purp[ose of using computer is less...you can go for assembled computers right?
