I have seen many people who use bottled water and the number is increasing every day. but are you aware of the fact that bottled water is very costlier then tap water. This is not all, i was reading one article where it mentioned that an average US citizen spends over $400 every year and in the year 2004 the bottled water marked as 26,000,000,000 liters. it means the same number of plastic bottles were used in an year and of which around 86% ends up as garbage and according to survey 1500 water bottles ends up as garbage every second..IT MEANS WE ARE PLAYING WITH ENVIRONMENT. are you the one..pls share your thoughts and save nature..

Who is responsible for it? When I lived in New Delhi, some of the area dos'nt had good water. Water was very dirty in those areas and we had no option but buy bottled water for drinking. If the Govt will supply us clean water then we will not go for the bottled one.

I buy bottled water occasionally. At home we have a filter for the tap water that takes out any impurities, it is kept in the fridge,so we fill the water bottles up and recycle them until they fall apart or beging to make the water taste. It is a lot of garbage to use only bottled water plus the expense,so if your tap water is good or you get a filter this is the way to go I think, that way you are only using one bottle every few months or so which cuts down on the waste.

Not anymore but I do have a filter for my water now. I just replace the filter on my faucet about ever months. The filters are about $20 but they are worth it to get better and safer water to drink and cook with. I have quit using plastic and changed over to cloth bags that I take with me when I go shopping for food. I also read that there was something released from the plastic bottles into the water that was toxic. They have also been warning people about plastic baby bottles.

That is a good idea to use paper or cloth bags instead of polythene..

Our tap water at our house has a weird after taste, not real bad I can drink the water from faucet but much prefer the bottled water. I feel bad if I buy bottled water all the time so I take the gallon bottles that I have and re-use. I fill them up at the local market for 25 cents. So I save on the cost of water(at the store not at home) and I am re-using the bottles. I use them until I cannot any longer. In our previous home I never bought water, just drank out of the tap, it tasted good. I keep a few of the single plastic bottles and fill those up for on the go and also have regular water bottles to reuse time and time again.

recently there have been articles and reports of botled water being of lower quality than tap water. people are simply filling bottles up with normal water or even of lower standards and spiking up the price. furthermore, the discarded bottles harm the environment. 1500 bottles eery scond is a scary statistic!

Hello, I don't use bottled water, but I sure love the way that it tatse, but to be honest bottled water is way to expensive. I think that all water should be free, rather it is bottled boiled, tap or other wise, water is just somthing out of all things that we pay for should be free, so that is why I don't use bottled water. If we all were in compliance with the recycling plan, that us normally located on the bottled water we will be ok, but most of us don't take the time to recycle , we just throw in the garbage. Happy My Lotting!

spring water can be a drinking water i don't find any difference but my main concern is on using plastic bottles, which are ruining our environment. I think we should stop using plastic bottles or re-cycle it as long as you can...

I agree with you. They said on the news awhile back that there is a hugh number of these bottles in the land fill. Also i have known people that would buy a bottle and refill it many times. They also said on the news someting about the breakdown of these plastic bottles being used over and over. You get symptoms such as sore throat, etc. I had plastic milk jugs in the frig for cold water. I started feeling the symptoms. I replaced the milk water jug with a glass tea jar. With a spout. So much better. All my drinking utencils are now either glass or stainless steal. Except the thermo coolers. Which i wonder about.

that is great, you should be the role model for all your friends and do tell them not to use plastic bottles.

The city I live in was ranked #1 when it comes to pure water so I would be foolish to buy something inferior to what I already have for free! When I know I am going out I have bottles that I can fill with my own tap water and not have to worry about going without.

I know people are aware bottled water is more expensive than tap. I think they like that it doesn't have any impurities and bad stuff in it that we are told is in tap. I don't buy bottled water. I think I would feel guilty because I have good water already and it hasn't hurt me yet so I think I am okay. I I think if we never had bottled water, everyone would be just fine still and not be worried about the impurities, plus their immune systems would be stronger.

I understand the environmental issues with using bottled water. I am also very careful to get the pure water not just tap water. The problem with tap water is what we do to it to make it "better".... yeah right! There is added chlorine and flouride both of which are detrimental to our bodies! I'll take my chances on the other end of things!

"Forever in a landfill." Ever seen that commercial? I always think about that when I see people with bottled waters - especially those who go to the gym (granted I used to do it too - thank God for the ability to adapt and change). Anyways - the quality of bottled water is rarely better than if you were to just buy a Brita Filter and purify your tap water. That's just one tip - not only will it save you money, it will also save the environment.

Yes i use bottled water. But i only use it when i am traveling long distances. After the journey we leave the bottle in the train and i think it is dipsosed off by the train authorities. Some people throw bottles on the way which could be signs of pollution.Animals in the field may eat the bottle and die of stomach problems. In my house only if there is water shortage we use bottled water.

If I am out and want water, yes, but at home we have filters for our drinking water. We keep large containers filled with it, too, just in case, as our water supply will not work if our electric goes out (well pump will not work). I will not drink unfiltered water in my area. I agree, too much with the water bottles. Most people do not bother to recycle and laws need to be strict. They should also force companies to find other options for bottling water, containers that will biodegrade easily.

I used to buy bottled water ALL THE TIME. Where I lived before, the water didn't taste good but I also never really gave it a chance either!! I realized after I started trying to lose weight that I didn't want to have to be getting bottle after bottle of water out of the fridge(we don't have much room in our fridge anyway for them), so I bought a reusable bottle. It's 32 oz, so it helps the environment and lets me be a little lazy with my water refills!! Hasn't there been a study that bottled water is practically the same as tap anyway?

I use bottle water every once in a while. I don't if someone else had recommended it(I haven't read any others comments yet), but if you don't want to drink the tap water directly you could always by a water filter for your tap. It will definitely save you a lot of money. That is what I do. The only time I will buy bottled water is if I am away from home.

i never buy bottled water as i dont see the point when i have a fresh supply of water suitable to be drank streight from the tap at home that i have already paid for, it is a cost to my pocket and the enviroment to buy bottled water so i dont

i don't buy also bottled water. when ever i go out i bring my own bottled water . bringing you own bottled water you can save money and also the plastic container that become a waste after use. so by bringing your own bottled water not just save your money you have also contribution in the environment by recycling your empty bottle
