Does Mylot slow down your computer?

About 15 minutes ago I got a yellow bar across the top of my browser saying it was stopping this website from downloading something onto my computer and the only reason I noticed this is because my computer started slowing down so much. My computer has already gotten substantially slower--no, its about ready to crash--and I wonder if Mylot could be the culprit? I do not trust all those spyware programs and think most are worthless but if want to know if anyone else has the same problems? I have been using Mylot for a year and half the same time I have gotten computer, used Dell.

I don't know why it happened in your pc. I think it is due to the other virus not due to mylot. I hope you did never got that problem before with the mylot in the one year time.
And I say with confidence, mylot doesn't slow down our computer.

Dell is no longer the IT brand for computers. In my opinion, it's just become overpriced and overrated. I owned one, it's quite old now so I junked it and replaced it with a second hand HP Compaq. It's pretty good too, but it clutters quickly. Have you tried defragging? It helps most computers.
By cluttering quickly I mean when I first got it it was super fast without stuff in it, but about three months after it's starting to slow down.

overpriced, thats for sure I remember how reasonable they were when we bought a laptop from them back in 2004 and now we could hardly consider them--I'd much rather spend the extra money and get a Sony

Well, it could be a lot of things, but personally it does sound like you might have a Virus somewhere on your Computer. I know for me, when it comes to surfing the Web, etc. without a Good virus protection nothing or no one is safe here. I would first do a System restore, and check to make sure your Virus protection is updated, and then go from there.. Wishing you the Best.

I don't see any reason why my computer would slow down when i'm on myLot. I guess this time you should really trust spyware programs just to be safe. Maybe you can try Spybot Search and Destroy. I think it's one of the most reliable anti spyware software. Maybe you should change browser. Try using Mozilla Firefox. I think that will solve your problem.

Not usually. Once in a while, maybe, but there are other sites that really seem to jam up my computer a lot more...
Limewire - which i know i should probably stop letting my kids use that
miamiherald.com - my local paper's website
and a few others.
they make my computer sound like an airplane taking off.

I am using Dell too. No problem at all. I don't think myLot slows down my computer. I do get other programs some times which seem to interfere with what I am doing on the computer , like some popup marketing and promotional programs.

no, mylot doesn't affect the performance of my computer at all. it works perfectly fine.
there is also a yellow bar on the lower tab of my computer from McAfee, a site advisory saying that there are some downloads here that some people consider as adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs.
i had downloaded some photos here and it had no treat, anything at all.

Nope, It doesn't slow down your computer. Well, Website won't slow down any computer. Even a low-end Computer. Well, MyLot is a legit site, MyLot never download a file without your permission. Well, even there's website can install a dangerous programs, MyLot is not a site like that. If MyLot does, then It's MyLot reputation is not good anymore.
Solution for you: Check out the other problem, It might be another site, or maybe your computer is infected by Virus/Adware/Spyware, and that Virus downloading a dangerous file to your computer

I used Firefox before but I always was nervous about free downloads because I always thought your getting more than you asked for and that would lead to trouble down the road, a slow computer--so i was wrong?

Well the yellow bar is usually ActiveX , required by many websites. If you just closed the bar , it will start downloading automatically. And the download uses most of your bandwidth, leave your PC idle for about 13 Min. depending on your download speed and try again , should be normal.
