My little guy, the baby was heaving like he was trying to throw up. I was fixing myself a salad and turned to ask him if he was okay. He turned his little head to look at me then turned back. He immediately fell to his left, he got up in a few seconds and then immediately feel to his right side, he got up in a few more seconds and moved about a foot and went down. I got to him he was shaking badly. I picked him up and went straight for the phone calling his vet. Luckily the vet answered the phone instead of one of the other girls. I told her what happened and she said to bring him right in. We got there he seemed to be okay. He was interested in the other little ones in the office. He got weighted and he weights twice what he should. Min-pins are not suppose to weight over 9 pounds, but he weighted 22.3 pounds. He is a husky little guy but over weight too. The vet took blood and did some other things. He had a low grade fever and nothing else seemed to be wrong. From what I described as to what happened to my little baby she said that she thought he had a seizer. Now that was not good news to me, as I have seizers and know full well the ramifications of this statement. I was told to watch him carefully which I do anyway and if he had another episode to bring him right back. Since he had the fever she gave him an antibiotic just in case. It's been a long time since I was scared by something that happened to one of my babies. I no have 4, 3 min-pins and a rotti. When was the last time you had a fright having to do with someone that you love and what happened?Thank you ahead of time for your responses.

I had an experienced with my puppy too when he was less than one year old . We have long stairs in our house and the flooring are tiles and of course it is so hard. It is always his habit to follow me everytime , wherever i go he cannot leave me alone. So when i get up to do something he is always behind or watching me .And then one time when he followed me upstairs,he was running and suddenly i just heard something very loud that something hit on the floor. So when i tried to look back, he was already on the floor rolling around and trying to get up. I had to run back and when i hold him and help him stand up he can't stand up by his own anymore. I was so worried and i even cried because i don't want something bad like what just happen occured to him. He look like crippled already and i just tried and tried to massage his leg carefully and tried to talk to him that it's gonna be okay. Shaggy is a very good, loyal and cute puppy. So on that day i asked somebody what im gonna with him because he can't walk anymore. One night passed and to my surprised when i got up in the morning, i saw him there walking already as if nothing happened on the other day. I was so happy then knowing i love my puppy so much and it broke my heart to see him trying to walk but he can't.

Oh narvz, I too would have been so upset at something like that. I know because my miniature poodle go hit by a car and he could not stand up. I didn't take him to his usual vet because no one answered the phone there is another one between here and there and hen I seen a bunch of cars there I stopped in to see if they would help me. It was on the weekend and after a time when my vet should have been closed anyway. Well I let them nurse him, they took an x-ray but not the proper one that as needed. I had no way of knowing this though. My baby could not walk for almost 2 months. I got tired of continuing taking him back to them and calling them and getting ignored about him not walking. They just would say he wants to be babied. I know better than that. As he had to have surgery on his leg a few years before and I could not keep him still. I took him to his usual vet and told them what happened. They took the x-ray that should have been taken and found that both hips had been knocked out of their socket. Since it had been so long he had to have surgery to correct them. I felt so bad and really sad and mad at myself for allowing the other vet to leave him that way. I cried and cried so much over him. When this happened with my baby a couple of days ago it scared me and I called the vet right away. I always do call right away when something happens. I can not stand to know one of my babies is hurt or sick. This one is like yours, he is my shadow. He gets up when I do and goes where I go. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me.

Aww--poor baby--oh how we fret and fuss when something happens to one of our "babies" and I hope and pray he'll be all right now I hope you not using any kind of flea/tick kind of treatments---I've written and article how toxic they actually are and can trigger seizures! You were lucky you were able to get him to a vet so soon though. I wasn't so lucky with one of my kitties-This was years and years ago back in the 1980s and remember it like it happened yesterday. Tommy was only about ten years old and just that day was his usual playing self. Later that night I was stretched out in bed reading, it was 3:30 a.m. and my mother and grandmother were sound asleep. I then heard a funny coughing type sound--like the way cats cough when they have a furball that they are trying to get up---So I got out of bed and saw Tommy lying on his side near the front door in a seizure...I felt helpless as there was no way I could take him to a vet at that hour, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway---I did the only thing I could think of and gently pulled him on my lap, petting him, calling out his name to let him know I was nearby with tears flowing like buckets, and in about fifteen or twenty minutes he was gone. To this day I still don't have a clue what had happened as he had been so lively just that day

Awww pye I'm so sorry you had to go through that and to loose your baby. I'm sitting her with tears going down my face crying like a baby. I can tell you and hope that it eases your mind at knowing what may have happened. When we have seizers our blood pressure shoots up so much and so fast that we can have an anuerizm or a hard attack or even a stroke. Also when seizing we stop breathing many times. It could have been any one or a combination of these. I will also say that your baby knew that you was holding him, as we seize we may not be able to do anything or have any reaction but we realize everything going on around us. The sounds are like being in a drum, we hear all but we just can not react to anything. Tommy knew you were holing him and that you loved him, everything you said and did he knew about it. He could feel your touch too. I know losing him was so hard, but I hope this helps a little. Again dear I'm so sorry about your little Tommy.

Hi mc, it's been awhile and it's good to see you. I hope you are doing well. Yes, my little one is also like me, he needs to lose a lot of weight..lol. He does weight almost 1 1/2 times more than he is suppose to at his top weight. I had put them all on a diet a little while back and they lost weight, then I stopped and the little one gained it back as he eats what I do when I do. I have to cut back on that for them all. Which I have done since his episode. I felt so bad for the little guy, he looked scared. I'm sure he was too since nothing like that has happened before. Thank you for responding mc I hope you are having a great weekend and bless you.
