Defensive pessimism is a strategy used by anxious people to help them manage their anxiety so they can work productively. Defensive pessimists lower their expectations to help prepare themself for the worst. Then, they mentally play through all the bad things that might happen. Defensive pessimism actually helps anxious people focus away from their emotions so that they can plan and act effectively.
Strategic optimists is typically used by people who are not anxious. Individuals using this strategy set high expectations, and then actively avoid thinking much about what might happen.
WHAT ABOUT YOUR THINKING?

Remember this,"While the optimists invented the air planes, the pessimists invented the parachutes"!Negative thinking is also necessary to make anything fool proof.Positive thinkers leave some holes in their plans while negative thinkers seal them.Cheers!

Hi Buddha, I prefer being a Strategic Optimist and I feel that I am one. Nothing gets me down for long. I do have my low phases when I start questioning the very reason for my existence, but then I bounce back with more vigor and determination. I have no high ambitions and aims, but I would like to climb a step higher each time, not go down.I am one of those who dont think much either, I prefer to act - may be sometimes that leads to disaster LOL, but thats me...

Hi..
I think both ways.. Like when exams are getting close, I always expect that the exam would be difficult so it could help me review the lessons harder.. To keep my self confident enough to get high grades, I always think that "I can do it!".. You can achieve your goal if you keep doing your best..
