I don't have one favorite writer. There are too many to narrow down to just one. Laurie R King, Cynthia Voigt, Lois Lowry, LM Montgomery, etc.
I'm also someone (an English major, in fact) whose never read Romeo and Juliet. I never read it in high school, and when you get to college, it's one of those plays professors assume everyone has studied, so they skip it to go to less well known plays. Same with Hamlet. The plays I have read are Macbeth, Othello (twice), A Winter's Tale, The Tempest, King Lear (I think that's my favorite). All those were read for class. Now, I'm attempting Twelfth Night just for myself.

Right now my favorite books are more on spiritual, biographical and historical fields. I am more fascinated with real life stories. My favorite authors are Dr. Leo Buscaglia, M.Scott Peck, Paulo Coelho and Filipino evangelist Bo Sanchez. Their books talk about life's real stories that I can relate and can learned moral lessons.

Hi..
My favorite writers are Friedrich Holderlina nd Franz Kafka, the former due to his hauntingly beautiful writing style combined with the highest ideals and an ethereal character, the latter more because of his topics, his disillusionment, simply the way he describes reality.
There are many more writers that I thoroughly enjoy, but those two are my absolute icons. I feel a strong affinity to both their personalities and biographies. None describes the world how it is better than Kafka, and none can compare to Holderlin when it comes to how the world should be.

One of my favourite authors is Cormack McCarthy and my favourite book of his is Blood Meridian. McCormack's unique style of writing truly captivates in this book, with sculpted landscapes, mesmerizing dialogues, and portrayals of violence that are disturbingly perceptive. Spinning a web between two disparate characters, the youthful Kid and the diabolical Judge, one is swept away on a most disturbing journey of the deepest senses. As several of his books, the mythology of the wild west is given a twist, unravelling the spin that has formed our perception of this part of American history, exposing it as it really was. The savage events that dominated the growth of the new nation are bared in chilling detail, uncomfortably lyrical in a language as of song. But it strikes an even deeper core, timeliss beyond the historical context of the westward expansion in America, equally relevant today as in any other time, relevant far beyond the geography of America's west. The elements of human nature are exposed as the quest for power and its abomination into brutality culminates in the peaks of violence - the meridians of blood. McCormack's writing, singular and unique, as full of emotion as it is sparse in punctuation, stimulating and illuminating in clarity of thought, effortlessly breaking the mould of conventional form and grammar, and ultimately striking a chord deep within, that normally is touched only through poetry. And what most would not dare admit, a chord as relevant today as it was in the days of the wild west. My admiration for McCormack's writing, driven both by emotion and intellect, is complete - the man is a true master, this book a masterpiece.

i would have to say in the horror genre it would have to be stephen king and dean koontz. i have read all their works. and it has been prett great and a lot of the time i end up scared out of my mind, to the point of sleeping with the light on ha ha.
my other love my first love really is science fiction and when it comes to that it is pretty hard to decide. i love the star wars collection of books, yes the star wars universe is pretty vast and well i am a huge star wars fan. robert heinlein has had some pretty awesome books like stranger in a strange land and starship troopers ( which believe it or not is rumoured to be required reading for the usmc msg)i also appreciate a good asimov, although if truth be told all his work is pretty great.
i also like max brooks, and i have read 2 of his books which deal with one of my favorite subjects, zombies and zombie warfare. the books are called the zombie survival and worl war z. awesome awesome.

My favorite author is Anne Rice. I love her style of writing and all of her charactors keep me interested. I didn't really understand the olde english version of romeo and juliet either. We had to read that version though. I got a book of trnslations off amazon to go along with it and it was great. I love the movie though, the one with leonardo dicaprio in it. I really liked that. Shakespeare is a genious, but it's hard to understand the olde versions.

Shakespeare's writing doesn't interest me very much. It was one of those things that I read because I was forced to in high school. My all time favorite is Roald Dahl and always will be. I loved his writing when I was little and I can still enjoy his books now. I love to have a good laugh from his amazing imaginative stories. Lately I have really enjoyed watching Jane Austen movies. The books aren't as great as the movies. I love the time period she sets her characters in.

Well, it's not about a favourite writer for me - I have many favourite writers, and each of them belong to their own category. It depends on what reading I am in the mood for. For example, if it's light romance with humour, I love Georgette Heyer. If it's mystery I love Sherlock Holmes. There are times where I would like to go in for heavier reading and then I might go in for Shakespeare or Homer. And further still, at times when I would like to go in for historical accounts, I would like to look at the works of Flavius Josephus.
