Do you know anyone who always knows better?

I have house visitor and she is going to stay with me for one more month. I like her, but what irritates me is that she always knows better, regardless of topic. She starts every sentence with “no” and she is finishing all sentences for me. Why she needs to say no? Because she knows better!!!.... I call her Agent 99..... Do you know anyone who always knows better?

I think you would be referring to me and I have been known to be a "cia agent" because of that, knowing so much, I mean. It is a failing which I am trying to correct. These days, I have learned to just let the other person talk but I usually can't stand it after a while because people don't really have much to say and they tend to repeat themselves which leads me to think that they must think I am not getting it the first time. Cheers!!

Do I ever! My mother is just like that. She was once in real estate many years ago, and I brought her along to a conference in Atlantic city. In all the classes she had to add her 2 cents and considering things are very different now, it was funny. But after awile I had enough, so in one class we went to, we had to introduce ourselves. So I said "hi I am barbara from xxx and this is my mom who used to be in RE and she knows everything".It got quite a laugh and kept her quiet.

Yes, my sister. She actually just left my apartment yesterday morning. She came to stay with my Sunday night and left Wednesday morning. I was very happy about it. Since she got married three years ago we haven't seen each other that much. But she always knows better. However, I don't argue with that now. I did when we were teenagers...we'd get into arguments because she was always right, she always knew more...she did the same thing to my parents. She's really not that bad anymore though.

I knew a lady like this , we were so called friends . She was a know it all , and always talked bad about everyone . I couldn't handle it anymore . When I was around her I would leave feeling bad because of her being so negative. I can't stand being around know it alls , or very negative people , they drain you .

Yes, I do know someone just like that. Unfortunately, that person also happens to be my HUSBAND!! I love him that is the only way I can explain being able to tolerate it. :) Just LOTS of love I guess.

Sometimes I wish that the person that knows better at my house was just a visitor but is actually my husband. I hate that he is always trying to say that he knows better or that he those things better than I do. If I try to help him he nerver lets me because he tells me that he those not need help and I don't know more than him. It's really anoying but sometimes I wont try to help him and he will actually ask for help after he messes everything and he needs me to fix it. The worst thing is that most of the time he would not thank me and he will say "I knew that i just wanted to know if you knew" or "it was just a test to see if you were capable". I think that he tries to be more than me because he actully knows I can do thing with out his help.

I don't like it when my wife is trying to help me when my friends are there because they make fun of me when she actually those it better than me. I'm not saying that she is not capable of doing things I know she is and she is actually better than me in somethings. But I just don't like the way my friends talk about me and that actually makes me feal less of a men sometimes. They actually take it to work so everybody at work will talk about it.

Apart from my wife, who usually does LOL, I don't have any friends whom I'd put in that category. However, over the years, I have worked with many, and yhat is probably on reason why I didn't befriend them. I don't think there is much of a comeback to this trait. I feel for yoy polachicago, as with this sort of houseguest he time could drag. Oh, just thoight of one, my former mothet-in-law.

Hey polachicago, was just thinking I had not seen you in a while...and here you are. Yes, I work with someone like that. Last fall we were talking about the weather. The temp that morning was about 36 and I heard we might have snow flurries that day. Well, she set me straight, it would not snow that day, it was too cold to snow. I saw her at work today, she must be commuting from your place to where I work.

no! lol she doesn't know things better. she is just doing that because she has inferiority complex. she starts the conversation with a "no" then compere herself. most of them wants to prove that they are better but actually they are not. most of them will shut up if someone that has higher level of learning will speak out. but if you listen closely to their ideas it doesn't seem to have sense. it doesn't have a deeper analysis of the particular topic.

Hi pola...I know exactly what you mean! I work with someone who has done everything and knows everything and has an answer for everything even if the answer is completely wrong! That is awesome that you call her Agent 99 - I think I might use that too! Thanks for that!

Gosh, I have a friend just like that! It is annoying! Worse still she is younger than me by a lot and she likes to use that 'You don't respect my knowledge because I'm younger than you.' Argh! That has nothing to do with anything. She also likes to one up me all the time. When my youngest daughter was showing signs of delayed speech development she immediately signed up her son for delayed testing. Then her younger son has to be tested for stuff all the time. She loves to have stuff go wrong in her life as soon as anything happens in mine just so she can glory in things being worse for her, weather it's real or imagined.

You are lucky that person is going to stay with you for one more month. Be quick to learn many things from her. Make hay while sun shines. I too know one person who knows everything but I have not met him in person, I can just feel his presence. meapas

'why she needs to say 'no?' Because she is a 'know-all'?[only 'all no's] That is very irritating and I have also seen people like that who would know anything and everything in the world.

oh god yes. i know somebody who likes to lecture me all the time about "acting my age"..and then turns around and does bad things themselves.i'll be damned if i'll take an age lecture from somebody only 5 years older than me. even people that don't really know the person calls them a "know it all".how bad is that?

a bit of a playful side keeps people young,i think. better playful than to end up a sour ol' crab like he did,i say. he's one step from a "hey you kids, get off my lawn" type now.

And speaking of my step-mother (other discussion)... She does seem to know things better than anybody else. If you had a great vacation, she did it better or she didn't like it there, etc. But oh well, I can tolerate her.

Hi, polachicago. Yes, I know plenty of people that know better but they don't act like they know better though. Your house visitor should let you finish talking. I know that you will be glad when this month is up so that you can have some peace from her. She needs to skit skat!
