I am a full time mom and housewife so I am always in a store for something... dish soap, diapers, milk, etc.... our house is a fixer upper so we tend to run to the home improvement stores for items to fix things such as cauking for the windows or new lighting and things... but none of these stores are fun stores.
Last week my mother in law bought me a gift card to a department store and it made me think that I havent been to a store like that since Christmas time.... I dont ever stop to think of things that I would want just for me...so now I get to go shopping and buy me a shirt/blouse or a purse or something just for me...
what about you...how long has it been since you went shopping and what did you buy just for you?

The last time I went shopping for myself was yesterday when I went to town and spent my birthday money! I actually went with the intention of buying my two boys some jeans with the money but they did not have what I wanted and so I did spend the money on myself which was nice. I cannot go shopping and not buy everyone else something it just seems wrong somehow even though the money was mine, I still ended up buying my hubby some tops too! I think it is just the way we women are!

yes, I agree that is how we are... we may buy ourselves something but then we justify it by buying something else for someone else...LOL I am glad though that you got to spend your bday money on yourself...it was after all intended for that I am sure.
thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Hi bookreadermom08!! Last month i bought Philippine made one pair of close shoes with 3 inches heels and a pair of sandals. I really like this one that until now i haven't wear cause like you i always stay at home as a full time mom. This kind of shoes is for formal attire perhaps for occasions. The celine brand black pair of sandals is for my everyday and outside use. I am very comfortable wearing this sandal cause aside for it's known brand, the sandal itself is really fit for my foot. You could really feel good if you buy something for yourself even just small things!

I think that is great... we do need to treat ourselves once in a while since we do work so hard ...even being a full time mom, you never get time for yourself and the house is never done...so our jobs never stop and yet we never stop to think of or treat ourselves once in a while. It sounds like what you got... good for you!
thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

yesterday to be exact. i have been walking around in payless (cheap shoes) for years because that is what i can afford but my feet have gotten so bad because there is no support in these shoes at all. i went to kohl's yesterday and everything was on sale so i bought myself 3 pairs of name brand shoes for the first time in forever. cannot tell you the last time i had well-made, name brand shoes. i am not one to buy into name brands and designer labels and such but i have to say when it comes to shoes you get what you pay for. my feet feel better already and i will be more encouraged to walk in my new sneakers so i can continue to lose weight and get in better shape. before it was agony with my old sneakers.

First I loathe with a passion shopping. I avoid it as much as possible. I shop only when I need to. I also don't have income or money to do much frivolous shopping for myself. It has been over a year ago I got some new shoes and hair things and some bras only cause I NEEDED them. I hardly ever go to town which is 22 miles away. Partly because I hate to shop and partly mostly cause I just don't have any money even if I did want to shop. I have to count pennies monthly and hope they stretch even for basics. So shopping is not something I love or want to do much.

I am not much of a shopper either, but yes, when I really need something then I will go out... I know exactly what you mean by counting pennies... I have done that as well for the last 3 yrs for sure... longer really but the last 3 yrs have been even tighter.
thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I haven't actually bought myself anything in quite some time. If I go 'shopping' for myself, then I'm browsing. I want a lot of things, I need a lot of new things, but I just cannot afford to buy any of the things I need let alone want. Mostly that things that I buy are things like food, household things, school related, that kind of thing. I just can't afford to buy anything else. And I need so many new things as well.

I know exactly what you mean... I am the same way. There are many things I want, and things that I truly could use... but no money to do so...I am thinking maybe I can save up some of my online earnings and get me something nice...LOL, but it will take a while.

The last time I went shopping for myself was last week when I was on holiday in Ireland, I had gone out to buy my two youngest sons a few bits but when I spotted a clothes shop closing down I could not resist as they had 75% off. So I brought myself a red skirt, a black skirt and a black t-shirt.
My partner is always telling me to buy stuff for myself as I always end up buying my children things instead.
So it was nice to be able to treat myself.

I used to love shopping before I was a mum. I used to have lots of time to look for things for myself, and try them on, and I had more money too.
But now I don't get so much time, when my daughter's at pre-school there's other things to do, and when I do go to the shops it's a bit rush so I'm not late picking her up. Also, of course once you have a child money is much tighter. When I try to go shopping with her she wants to look at clothes for herself (such a girl, lol!) and she also gets bored easily.
Um, so I can't really remember. I think it was probably a few months ago when I was in a shop looking for a birthday present for my husband. I was in a rush as usual, and I saw a blouse I liked, picked it up and bought it quickly without trying it on. Then I got home and it was too big, and missing a button, lol!

OH NO... oh that is a bummer!! so sorry about the blouse!! I know exactly what you mean by being in a rush... my son was in kindergarten this year and he was a half day so I was dropping him off and picking him up and getting my running done while he was in school...and I have my 17 month old daughter that is with me so I am always in a rush to get in and get out of the stores.

Hmm... I went out last Friday to get myself a brand new mobile phone since the one I've been using for the past two and a half years finally broke down and refused to be turned on. Before that, around three weeks ago, I got myself a new pair of shoes to replace my office shoes which were damaged. So yeah... I'm the type of person who buys stuff just when I absolutely need to, as in the above situations.

oh yeah, that sounds like me too!!! I dont want to put out the unnecessary money for things that will just sit around so I am pretty picky when it comes to getting things for myself. I use to be much worse about my shopping, but I have gotten to the point that I had to much stuff that I didnt use and now with kids their needs are greater than mine.
thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Well I would say I went for shopping about a month ago and I very seldom go to shop for myself. I would probably just look around but would not buy because it does not interest me that fast. Shopping is always during celebration.

Yes, I am a browser too when we go shopping, I always take my time to decide what I really want if it is something that I need. I wish I could go shopping for myself like once a month, but that hasnt happened in a long time.
thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Just last week. LOL! Only because there was a "back to school" sale in the mall near our apartment, so I went with my boyfriend.. I was only there to help him look for a new pants and a pair of sneakers... and then we entered this store where the pants were only 400Php per pair.. that around 8USD.. very very cheap, so I bought one, even if I wasn't really planning on buying something cause I was in a tight budget. But who could pass up a bargain like that?! I'm only human. LOL. =)

I am the same way. A housewife who NEVER stops shopping!! I seem to be at the store EVERY SINGLE DAY!! So recently I resolved to buy myself one item as a treat at least once per month. That way my outings don't seem so tedious and I have something to look forward to when I go to the store. I don't spend more than $10 on myself. :)

It must have been last week when i bought a CD but there are a few shops that you keep going into and it always has the same stuff and i don't see how people can keep on doing shopping, going to the same place and just looking at the same stuff. I have a few friends that keep on insisting that we go to town and we always say no becaue it is just going to turn out the same, we end up holding there shopping bags:(
