How important is your cell phone?

My daughter should have her cell phone surgically attached to her ear. SHe is never without it. I use my phone but I can leave it at home and be ok. Not my girl. She is 21. I kept telling myself that as she got older the novelty of a cell phone would wear off. NOT! She will stop everything and answer the darn thing. When she takes a shower, she has to leave the phone but the minute she gets out she's got the phone checking for missed calls. SHe is the fastest texter I have ever seen.lol. Is your phone that important?

Cell phones are the new way of communication for people our age. I am 24. I dont use mine all the time, but I usually have it with me at all times just in case of an emergency from my end or from my families end. I do text quite a bit and I like it, but I think that some people are just rude with them. There are certain places to use it and others not. So I hope she is polite with it.

That's exactly what I am talking about. You use it as a tool to make your life easier. Other people have it sticking out of their ear at all times. I hate to go into a store and the cashier is on the phone. She doesnt put it down not even to help you. I hate that. You and I are a dying breed. lol dl

WOW! I cannot believe that people wont get off the phone when you go into a store. I wouldn't shop there if that was the case. I wish that people would be more mature with their jobs. That is the problem with my generation. We are tagged as the generation who doesn't want to work and I can see that with some people but I would die if I didn't have a job. I love the money. If I ran a store and my employees were in on the phone all the time, I would fire them. But I hope your daughter gets better and learnst hat there is more to life than a stupid cell phone.

Mine is lonely and unhappy most of the time. I often have it with me, usually in case the car breaks or my precious and ancient dog is taken poorly but I only top it up about once a year and rarely use it. Young people are different, they need to chat to their friends, arrange social events and keep in touch. I didn't have a mobile phone until I was 27 and then only because I worked 20 miles from home and driving while you are pregnant could be a worry. Ten years later I wouldn't be without it as a safety net with 2 kids but I prefer not to give people the number as I don't like it ringing much, lol. Last August I put £15 on it and still have just under £11 left so it's probably not very important to me.

You are so sweet! I do think you must be the most responsible person regarding cell phones that I have ever heard of. lol If it has worked for you this far dont change it. A cell phone should be used for emergencies not as a regular phone. Its not for me to say though. I watch my oldest daughter and am amazed at how great she can multi-task.lol She has access to her phone 24 hours a day. It drives me crazy. I think you should be proud that you arent spending a big chunk of your income on minutes or monthly plans. Just to let you know I would call you if I had your number my friend. lol Thanks dl

I'm not addicted to my cell phone, but I do say if I with my family and friends you better be bleeding if you don't answer you phone when it rings, and if you don't text them for a day they call you at 4 o'clock in the morning asking if you are still alive. It is insane. My phone is out of minutes right now, so I feel actually a little lucky on that score. I sometimes tell people that my phone is running low on batteries so that I can get off the phone with them. I come from a HUGE family and it is very hard to tell them NO sometimes, they don't always get it. But, the number one reason I take my cell phone with me everywhere is the GAMES. Haha.

my cellphone is quite important to me but i am not stuck with it all the time... also, i can say that i can leave without it as well because i had left it at home quite a number of time and i am fine... there are still public pay phone around if i need to use a phone in case of emergency... so to me my cell phone is just an aid... take care and have a nice day...

My cellphone is extremely important to me. It's not important because I use it very often, it's important because it's always there when I need it, local or long distance. Last month I took the bus down to Detroit, but was late getting there because of delays. I was able to phone and text ahead to let my friends know where I was, so they would not think I had forgotten about them. I don't use my cellphone for every day use, only when I need it.

Hello dloveli! My cell phone is very important. It is my way of communicating with a lot of important people. That includes my parents who are in the United States. It's one of my ways of communicating with different people. It also serves as my "computer" from time to time as I get to access a lot of sites even if I am away from my computer.

My cell phone is normally not more than a few feet away from me at all times. Heck mine goes into the bathroom with me when I shower and it sits on the back of the toilet while I am in the shower. I am a single mom with 2 kids though, so I have mine on me all the time especially when my kids are not with me.

my cell phone is very important because it is my only phone. we got rid of our landline phone to cut back on bills. so my cell phone is my lifeline to friends and family and especially my son when he is in school in case he needs me or is sick.

Well, I am in college and my right ear has had more cell phone waves pass through it than I can even fathom. A couple of months ago I looked on my cell phone bill and I had sent and received over 1,000 text messages! I don't think it's the importance of having the phone, but rather the importance of always being able to be contacted nowadays.

I like the term when you said that the cellphones should be 'surgically' attach to our bodies. Cellphones are important nowadays and it is the best mean to contact someone whether it is your friend, loveones, family and relatives. Whether it is a simple text or a simple hello, anything could happen in an instant and we want to share or inform these individuals.

My phone is important to me. It is my means of communication for my friends. officemates and family. But I am not that person who will stick to my phone almost 24 hours a day. Sometimes when i am at home I will just leave my phone somewhere. But like your daughter my helper is same with her. She has 2 cellphones and almost 24 hours a day she always put the phone at her side. She likes to text a lot and even at midnight I can hear her talking with someone. She is that addict that she forms group with other people and they are the one who will keep on texting each other.

I also wonder why youngester are so keen to have their cell phone attached to them all time. Do they feel afraid that is why they do not leave the cell phone elsewhere, or do they feel that their secret will be decoded by others or their privacy will be invaded? I also face the similar problem with my daughter and am unable to make her comprehend.

I used it for my communication with my clients, family and friends. That's all there is to it. I am unlike your daughter. Who cares when the phone is ringing and I am at the bathroom, but yes I do checked on my missed calls. For me cellphone is necessity for communication only and not on the way that it control myself.

Hi, for me my cellphone is very important but not as serious as your daughter. Cellphone is important for me because i need it very much to contact my customers and keep some customers information in it. Other than that i need it to contact my friends because of the text services. It is much more cheaper than making a phone call. So i choose to use it more than my house phone. Happy Myloting!!!

I was glued to my cell phone till about a few years ago. Now at 26, its not a big thing. I don't miss it if I don't have it. The only reason I really carry arround my cell phone is so that there is some means of communicating in case of an emergency. I text more than I call people anyways. Since my cell phone has 4Gb external memory chip(right now) which is loaded with songs, that is what I mainly use it for.Cannot live without my music. lol. ;)
