I am always coming across articles that talk about how people sleep less and less these days... I was wondering if you believe this is true and if so does it apply to you? I personally think that sleep is an elusive little thing either because of a busy lifestyle or just the inability to fall asleep once given the opportunity.. I know I for one eould love to catch a nap sometimes...

I love to sleep! :D
Given a chance to nap in the afternoon, I would most definitely take it.
But that is not the case, because I don't have that privilege :|
I do sleep 7.5 to 8 hours at night though. I work on the computer. If I don't get my share of sleep it definitely takes a toll on me. My eyes hurt and burn the next day.
We all know that sleep is the time when the body is actually repairing itself. The cells that are worn out heal, new cells are formed and it is very important to get enough rest.
Happy myLotting and god bless! :)

Hey,
Well on average every single day I sleep probably about 8-10 hours each day. I find that for me, if I were to sleep even less than that, I could not concentrate during the day as I would be really too tired. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

When I was working, being able to sleep for five hours without interruption was heaven for me. When I quit my job and decided to take weeks of vacation, I still did not get to sleep a lot because I thought that I can sleep, and wake up, no matter what time it is since I don't have to go to the office anymore. I just felt like I got deprived of rest and relaxation, that's why. However, I still am trying to get more than five hours of sleep daily because I might get less than those when I start with my new work.

I think that stress is a large part of what keeps me from sleeping well these days. My days are so jam packed that when I finally do get a moment to settle down and go to sleep, my mind is still reeling with the many things that need to be done or busy going over the things I had gotten done that day. Not to mention the normal day to day stress of life.... I hope I can manage to get more sleep around the holidays!!!

I sleep for about ten hours a day, at an average. Yup you read it right; it's ten hours. I doze off at around 10.0 pm and wake up around 8 or 9. I've got no night life. I also jump on the opportunity if I get a chance to flirt with my bed in the afternoons. It's no wonder then that people knowing me many a times address me as 'Lazybones'. Thing is, I feel dizzy the whole day if I don't get enough sleep. It might be psychological, but I tend to get migrane attacks if I sleep any lesser.
But now I'd be shortly joining the earners' bandwagon.(Hopefully lol if someone wants to ruin his organization!) Hope I could adapt!

i do believe that people sleep less these days, like me i do sleep for only 6 hours because of my lifestyle... and one reason for me maybe is the crisis that our country encounter right now. people tend to have sideline works after their duties..

I know what you mean... I am so stressed out these days with the 50 different things I have going on all at once that I cannot get my mind to calm down long enough to get enough sleep.... I do wish I could sleep longer and more peacefully every night though. I am sure it could imrpove my health!!!

I know that I don't get nearly enough sleep so I know that it is very true for me. I usually get about 6 hours a night if I am lucky. I need at least 8, but with my busy schedule, it is just impossible. I thikn that we should all take a nap every day if we want to.

Hi and god morning amanda08, sleeping is something wee need to gain energy. And many of us live in a stressful time, therefore many people have sleeping problems. Well, I do not.
I work fulltime as assistance nurse. When I work for a hole day, it is like 8 hours. I am tired during the afternoone when I come home. I usually fall a sleep around 21:00 and I wake up about 04:30. This is so common, so when I have a day of, I alwasy wake up at that time, no matter if the alarm is not set.I do wish I could stay in bed and sleep for a couple more hours. But I can not go back to sleep.
So counting the sleeping hours, I do sleep about 6,5 hours per night. We should really sleep about 8 hours per night. Anyway, If I am free of from work, I also sleep one hour during the day, mostly after lunch time.
I am a boring mother as my son say - becouse when I am free of from work and we perhaps are watching a movie together, I alwasy fall a sleep in ten minuts. And that means, I miss the movie and some god quality time with my son.

I usually get between 7 and 8 hours. I have to get at least 7 or I can not function. If I get an extra half hour I usually feel really great. If I sleep any longer than that then I get a bad headache. I usually don't go to bed until I am practically falling asleep so I don't usually have trouble falling asleep.

Yes I think that now a days people are sleeping less and less. I have not read any article but I am saying this from my experience. I think now a days people have very busy schedule and again they have to work in nights also. I think this hampers our sleeping habits a lot. It is always recommended by the doctors to have a 6-8 hours sleep at night but now people are not being able to take it.
In my case the number of hours I sleep varies depending upon my work. If I have a very busy day then I sleep only for five hours. But in normal days I sleep around 6-7 hours a day.

I always have the opinion that if I have the sleep time more than 8 hours I'll feel so ashamed that I think I idle away the whole day. I don't know why I think this way. So I always sleep less than 7 hours, even during the days when I'm not busy.

I usually try to have around 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Now, that school is finished, I have the luxury of having that plus probably 1-2 hours nap time in the afternoon. Back in those stressful college life, I will be lucky to have 5-6 hours of sleep a night.

When i was still single, i sleep around 8 - 9 hours a day. After i am married and have my son around, i only able to sleep around 6 - 7 hours a day. When my son was sick, i would only able to sleep around 3 hours a day. But, i try to nap whenever he's sleeping. Just like recently, when my son got flu, i had to wake him up to feed him medicine. Taking care a sick child is a very tough job. But, i am happy that now my son is fine again..

aww I am sorry you had a sick little one... that is awful... but I am glad he is feeling better... I know mothering in itself is very tirin and it is the most unappreciated job.... I too remember those single days but I worked 2 jobs when I was single and had the time and I was totally exhausted all the time then too.... hmmm maybe I should have been using that time to sleep instead!!

That's a quite difficult question to me since I love to sleep and unfortunately have much time to sleep.
That's why I sleep more than normal between (7-9h). Last night I slept 11 hours but well...that's quite normal to me. Though I am sure I can't sleep that long again when I work once again. And to be honest I guess it's also not very healthy to sleep too much but I don't know. Better more than too less?

i think twelve hours is my ideal sleeping time but i cannot always get it fulfilled.they(parents) think i sleep too much and it wont be very good for me,so they tell me to sleep less.
but its really what i need to sleep that much for me to relax and rest,i dont know what to say to them.

Usually around 8 hours is what I go for. I might go to sleep around midnight and wake up around 8. At least I try to. =p
I wish I had the time for naps. Once you're really tired and go to sleep, its hard to return before you're ready. =D
