Well . . .when I get a friend request first thing I do if I do not recognize the name is I go and look at the profile . I like to see where my potential new friend is hailing from . . and I like to see how long they have been here on mylot. I find it strange if someone has been here for a month yet has no activity going on yet has pages and pages of friends! If this new potential friend has 0 responses and 0 discussions started I am wary of why they here. Honestly that is kinda creepy to me. For what reason does a person come here and all they do is send friend requests. Maybe I am suspicious but c'mon . .this lot here is for sharing ideas, thoughts and feeling about things we are interested in. I have made some really nice friends. . like you lamp . my first bff here on the lot. And I have not regretted one minute of our friendship. . . You post things and respond to things that I am interested in and you always have an interesting spin on things. . . so in a nutshell that is pretty much what I look for in my friends here!

Nothing much i can add to whatever you had written here, my friend. You said it all already. One thing i had never experience is the scenario you just described, no activities and no post for a month, but want you to be his friend, it sound creepy to me. Why would anybody want to do that to you, trying to spook you in mylot but have no intention of starting discussion or responding to discussion, he has to be some kind of Mylot stalker , that is all i can think of. Thank for sharing here.

Is there anything in his profile creep you yet? I hope you are not losing sleep over this and have to look over your shoulder whenever you are taking the subways at night in central station, , it is really weird.

I fairly accept most, if not all friend requests from friends here in mylot. Normally, I notice that a new user needs some friends and I will not hesitate to accept. But I take a look at the profile page. If I think the user has responded to a few discussions and seem genuine in mylot, I will definitely give the user a chance to be friends. I welcome newbies, especially as well as veteran users of mylot. You are right; it's great to have more friends. But I will not be a friend collector and will not forward friend request to persons that I have not really engaged in their discussions.

har har har. i have a few inactive members at my grass too. but i dont keep people who does not response on my discussion. i response on almost all my firends discussion as long as i know what to say. so i am expecting the other way around. maybe you call that strict but for me i call it playing it fair. we all have our styles on how to manage friends at mylot. i am a fairly friendly person ( i guess ) i dont bother anybody but infact i help them with their discussion. i dont choose who to accept, i accept anybody to be my friend but i just hope they also know the importance of adding them. you are one of the very good friends i have at mylot. cheers and goodluck to the both of us.

It doesn't really matter to me. I just accept their friend request. I don't really send out friend request. I do sometimes. So the more friends I have the more friends I have. It doesn't really matter how many friends you got. It just matters how much money your getting or how much discussions your making or how many discussions your answering. Friends don't really do much. You answer your friends questions and that's the more money your getting. You make discussions for your friends to answer and others to answer and that's the more money their making. So its equal. Friend request helps me out and other people out to get more money.

That is true to a point, more friend usually means more responses from friends in your discussion, then help you make a little bit extra money here. But many times friends do not respond to your discussion in mylot, especially those have many, many friends. Thank for your response. n happy mylotting !

I always check their profile and a selection of their posts before I accept a friend request unless of course I've already seen them around and know somewhat of who they are. I'm not that concerned that they have similar interests. I'm more concerned that they are decent people. Decent people (I'm not sure that term really catches my meaning) will always find enough common ground to interact pleasantly and intelligently. I don't have to agree with everything someone says to consider them a friend.

That is right, friend. At least i find some uses for a member profile, as a guide for friend request sometimes. It is just impractical to have a friend agree with you in everything in mylot , even in real life, it is quite impossible . Thank for sharing , cheer!

Having common ground among friends here is good, but it is not always possible, i will think the probability of finding it is not high even though it is higher than striking first prize in national lotto. I can not recall which thread you posted that make us friend here , saw! Seem to me it happened long time ago. ..

Common ground is a good start . .but sometimes one of us may have a different view so I think it makes it more interesting when one friend here may another way of looking at something that maybe we didnt think of. Navigating around here is so vast that our friends sometimes are guiding points to other subjects that we may never have stumbled upon. You know lamp . I met you so early on here and we had an instant chemistry that I am not even sure on which thread we even banged in to each other on. . Or which one of friended first . . ha! same with you Phil! But I think I found Phil somewhere moaning about the non existent basketball in NY Yet everywhere I have conversed with either one of you it has always been on an interesting discussion . . So I think the 3 of us .. have that common ground and hey, look 2 of my friends . . and I are chatting on a Wed night. . 10:12 my time and I think it is way kewl&hearts

In every mylot friend request I look for nothing. I accepted all even if they are new. I don't care much on the status. I never decline a friends request either.

this is the first time i ever think about th profile of my friendlists. when somebody requested to add them as my friend, i just add them without checking their profile. i dont see any reason for me to check their profile since this is only virtual friend that you have to make sure that you know them one by one and that you cannot trust them. but im checking profiles when they reply from my post and im curious on how they answer so i check them.

First of all i dont send random friend requests.I only make friends whom i know. But that doesn't mean i dont accept friend requests. If i get any requests i would first vist his or her profile and would check for common grounds. If i like his profile then i will add him or her as my friend.

I don't look for anything I just press approve ... do I need to check for anything ??? I don't think so ... because I think what is matter is to have large list of friends so they will post more comments to your discussions and this will make you earn more money ... and as I'm here for money so I just approve them... have a nice day and happy myloting ...

i usually just accept anyone who want to be my friend without checking on them... i think there is no harm in accepting friends here... if they become bad or do something to harm me here, then i will delete them...but before that, i never have any prejudice against anybody and accept anyone who want to be my friend... take care and have a nice day...

Mylot friend request......... Hi there lampar, usually when I get a friend request I go to the person's profile and what I'm looking for is common interest. What is it on their page that might be also on mine. If we have common interest then we can pm each other and talk about a few things. Mainly when I accept then as a friend, I expect for them to participate in some of my discussions although I don't expect them to participate in all of them. Also if they know of a good program for making money or for just having fun at, I would hope that they would share it with me and vice versa.......I have not met any of my friends at mylot in person yet and I don't think that I ever will however I would not dismiss the idea totally. Thanks for posting, have a great day.

Common interest is a good factor to look for in accepting friend request. I will keep that in mind. Yes, i don't expect my friends respond to all my discussions too, it is just not practical to have such a high expectation here. I did share some money making sites with my friend here, but i am not sure he is on to them or not. Regarding meeting Mylot friend in real world in person, i can never know whether it will happen in future or not, I just keep that possibility open for the time being. Thank for sharing with us here, n continue happy Mylottting to you!

I usually accept friend requests unless they are just staring and have so few posts. To me that person hasn't been here long enough to do much, and once they have enough posts, then I do accept them. As far as posting to discussions is concerned, when I start a discussion, irrespective of how many responses there are, I comment to them. I feel that if they are going to take the time to respond, then I owe them the courtesy of commenting back. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

What do you mean by "they are staring"? So a member must have certain number of posts before you accept the friend's request, that 's interesting! Thank for sharing with us n happy mylotting !

Hi Lampar...Yes, I must admit that when I get a friend request, I usually look at their profile first....I dunno if I specifically seek out certain info from their page. I think I just want to see who exactly it is that i'm adding...

I did that too, leysa! I just look around his home page for a while, then only decide to accept or not, i guess that's why the profile is there in the first place. Thank for sharing with us, happy mylotting!
