Our company is really strict on having our cube too personalized. During working hours only 3 personal items should be on your desk, no post-its, nothing tacked on the wall, and all those stuff.. plus after working hours, no personal items should be left on your desk. Of course I don't follow the rules, LOL, cause the stuffed dog at the top of my PC helps lessen the stress of my work. how about you? what does your cube looks like? and are you allowed to decorate it and all that stuff that I wish I could do? hehe. =)

sounds like working at Amex. 1 picture, 1 personal item no plants or fish. nothing tacked up and put things away at the end of your shift. UGH

I know! It's really annoying that the management still wants this rule to be strictly complied with.. they even have an annual competition on the Unit the perfectly complies with their rules.

The company where I've worked before was also very strict when it comes to clutters on our desks, even the decors we placed on our cubes are strictly prohibited. The institutional workers (or janitors) will surely confiscate those small things we placed on our desks, even ballpens and papers. We only need to have a computer and a telephone on top, nothing else.

Atleast in our company, if you left something at your desk at the end of the day, nobody would confiscate it.. You will be cited for not following the rules though.=).. Thanks for responding! =)

I work in my personal room with no restrictions. Seems that you work for people who don't understand the principle how to make people feel good at work.
Happy worker is working much better...hope they will change it soon for you....

When I used to work in a car sales, I kept all my plaques behind me on the wall. Since I was the manager of the store (there were only 2 of us), I also got to decorate the sales floor.
I decorated it with antique cars that I picked up on my travels. I put the old cars on shelves. Then along side, I put up some old looking metal signs about cars and things to do with cars. It was pretty neat being able to decorate a whole store by myself, and spend other people's money. LOL The only part that I didn't decorate was the Regional Manager's office, which was in the back of our store.
Other than that, I used to have these positive quotes sticking around all over the place. I love my positive quotes, and have taken the idea with me from place to place through the years. I even have them next to my own home computer!

good for you! I wish I could do the same in my own cubicle in our office.. the only thing I can put now is a small calendar and a little shell with my name on it.. hehehe. I used to imagine my cube having a lot of post its, full of feel good quotes and all those stuff.. but now, well, I'll get in trouble if I do that. hehehe.

I think as long as you keep it need and clean you should be able to fix it the way you like it.
I have a little office were I keep my supplies and my paper work and stuff.
! of my old supervisors just came and rearranged everything and she don't even work out of there.
She's no longer there so i changed it back.

LOL! .. Well, I do wish that I could design my cube.. it just makes it look happier.. and will definitely lessen my INIS to my company. lol. .. IT's just hard to work with just office papers and office things around you.
