My vote is for the Canon. If you are serious and want to work at your photography you will need several lenses and Canon Will give you that Option. The same thing can be said for Nikon, but I perfer Canon.

i suggest canon.they produce great cameras since our ancestors periods.they produce their own lenses...and a lot variety of lenses available.more over canon introduced 'digic' processors...they are simply great...they can record the images a clear as possible than any cameras....they are very fast. For both professional and home users canon is the best.they are cheap too.they give best value for money.they have wide varieties of cameras that satisfy ones needs.

If only the brand is being considered, I would definitely go for Canon. They make great cameras and they have been doing this business eversince..

people believe that considering brand only, is buying brand... not quality, but so far I think brand prove quality. So, Canon right?

I personally prefer Nikons. I have three Nikon DSLRs and I wouldn't go with another brand! My mom works as a professional photo editor, so she edits photos taken by photographers that use all different brands of DSLRs. She says she notices a huge difference in image quality between Nikons and other brands. She says that the color tones and dynamic range of photos taken with Nikon cameras look significantly better than photos taken with other brand cameras. She says that with editing she can make the quality look equal, but she has to do a lot less work with the photos that were taken with Nikons.

I do think that if you want to have a good camera you must switch with a DSLR, preferably canon, Canon is better plus you can able to find lens that fits canon easily with, take note of that with cool lenses and also capture a video, if you are an unprofessional photographer and thinking that photography is more of just a hobby than a slr Canon is good.
