Today, we have millions of artists exposed. We experience all sorts of cultures, we watch them on MTV, live in concert, on a talk show. We have them whenever, wherever. But among the millions, who are the artists who stand out? Why do you think so? What is it that they've got to impress you? What makes you think made them the best ever? Tell me. :)

Can you really describe the greatest or put a lable on it? To me the greatest is in the eye of the beholder. What may be great to one person may not be great to the next. Can achieving greatness really be achieved? Musicians whom have been considered great are people that were able to get people hyped up, forget their worries and have a good time. Artists that put on a good show for others. People that created great music for other people to listen to.

The artists who stand out are the ones who appeal to the most population. Of course, there are less popular genres of music in which the best of the genre are still fairly unknown by the world. But I think what makes a great musician stand out is their crowd appeal in concert and their dedication to what they do.

I don't have a specific person that I think is best but what I look for is someone who is all around, meaning not just a singer or not just a musician but someone who is capable of doing both. That shows that you're versatile. I also like artists who aren't afraid of doing different genres and different styles of music that their not use to.

In my opinion, there's way to many catagories where "The Best" can be a prefix, especialy in music. Way to many instruments, genre's and artists to take into consideration. And we all view things differently, I agree with one of the other posts that part of what makes anyone part of "the best" list is virsatility , also important would be experience, and presence. The other reply also had some good point where it was said that you can like somebody and then find out they've done things you don't like and their works become meaningless. I think your question raises to many possible answers, but it is a great qustion.
