Can you beat this? Are you environmental friendly?

The attached photograph shows my neighbour's garden shed with the roof covered in plants. He is very environmental friendly and did not want to rob nature of the ground that his shed covered. Now he has just completed a large double garage with a flat roof which is laid out like a mini garden with lots of plants and small trees.
The roof of his house is too steep for a garden but he has covered this on the south side with a large solar energy panel. I admire him for his concerns.
Do you think this is going too far? Are you environmental friendly?. Do you have other examples of extreme measures?

I think it's a terrific idea! The extra greens are good for the environment, plus there's another bonus for his troubles. He's passively keeping the structure cooler in the summer, and probably warmer in the winter. As long as the structure is sturdy enough to carry the weight when it's at it's heaviest, why not? Maybe he could write a book about his environmentally sound experiences and call it, 'Worms in the Attic'.
Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall for this telephone conversation?
RING
"Hello?"
"Hi George! It's me Ed. What to go play a few rounds of golf? Beautiful day."
"Sorry Ed, not today. While it's nice out, I have to mow my roof."
