have you experienced things like this? i am...its a little disappointing when you post a topic and then after posting it you will just find out that there exists the same topic with the same title as you posted! and you do it without knowing that the title is already existing... will it affect our performance here? thanks and have a nice day!

Hello, ckyera! Well, as others had already mentioned on their responses, there is a search bar on the top to be used for searching for discussions. It must be used before starting a discussion to prevent posting of duplicate topics. If there are multiple topics, the other will be automatically deleted when reported. Happy mylotting!

Well, you should search if a discussion already exists before you start posting. If there are topics that similar with what you are trying to post, better not to post it because it will be deleted when reported as a duplicate topic. Anyway, sorry for late reply, classes had just started around that time.

Well I have experienced this. Exactly two times. I didn't blow the title though. The content was very well different but the topic of discussion was same. The first one got responded by the owner of the discussion and she said it was ok. People often make such mistakes and she also said that 'We did not make the same discussion, just similar. So don't worry.' The second one was just started a day before I started mine!!! The owner however did not turn up... Regards, Ajith.

Hi Aunt! Glad to see you here. And you being here, let me tell that it was your discussion I accidentally started off. Anyway I am really glad that happened. Or else I would never have got a 'online' aunt. Thank you! Now a days, I use the search bar at the top to check whether any similar discussions has been started. I think that is a good idea to avoid repetitions.

Sometimes things just happend out of the unexpected.. There are times whereby we are in a rush to start new posts and thus we dun do a search on certain discussions.. Furthermore, most ple whom starts discussions in mylot, dun really do a search, except for a handful of them.. As long as u din mean to copy and paste, or having the exact same contents, u wont be penalised.. However, there are such lazy ple sround, whom keeps copy and paste other member's post as theirs, and in the end, that person got caught, and got banned by mylot.. haha =D

lol =D Well, the more u start, the more i get to respond right?? It's both ways of give and take ^_^ YEah, mylot is very strict upon that and thus that member was being banned.. haha =D As for yuor mistake, i guess it's all right, because most members does it too.. It's a honest mistake ^_^

hello kun! first of all thanks for your participation on my discussions...i saw your name on most of the discussions i started... well, for those who just cut or copy and paste.... that's something that they should be shameful of! well i have done this mistake twice and i feel bad about it and so from now on i will try my best to always use that search bar! (honestly, i don't give any attention on that bar before...i just post & reply on discussions! and don't use other features of mylot.)and i hope that i will not be penalize with those mistakes! again, thanks and have a nice day!

The searchbar at the top of the page is here to help us avoid repeating the same topics. It is enough to insert a word or some words of your chosen topic and highlight 'discussions' then hit 'search'. A list of previous discussions will then appear and you are aware whether it will be a repeat to be avoided. If your first search does not bring up results then try altering the word (words) you are using.

No, no there is absolutely no reason to feel stupid! We make mistakes in order to learn by them and I'm sure there are users who are here for much longer than you that have still no idea of what the searchbar can do (assuming they have even noticed its whereabouts ). Happy Lotting and have fun!

That happens a lot and i guess there's nothing more we can do with it. People just get it on and create discussions without even checking. This usually happens when they're using only nouns as their topic. General topics. It's a little disappointing because i think it reflects that they're only here for money. I can't blame them though but it degrades the quality of discussions here.

I seriously doubt not searching beforehand will do anything to hurt earnings on MyLot. I've had this happen at other communities, and regulars will usually point me to the original topic with no problem. Sometimes, you get some very apprehensive people who like to throw insults to those who don't use the search function of a site, but usually the helpful folks end up replying before them.

and i think that should be the right thing to do...the regular or more senior members should teach and guide the newbies...at least! thanks!

From time to time it does happen and in a lot of ways, there is nothing that anyone here can really do about it. Unless you are deliberately going around starting discussions with the same Topic and title as another one, or copying someone else word for word, there is not much that can be done. With as many people coming in here all of the time it does happen, and most of the time it is just an accident for sure.

Yeah I also experience the same thing sometimes. However, for some cases,we cannopt run away from it This because when people wanna ask something, some of them are just to lazy to search the older topic. They simply write what has cropped up in their mind!
