I have just started to text message as it is included in my cell phone package. I am slow as molasses at doing it though. I watch todays youth in awe as they text message walking down the street, riding the bus, in line at starbucks and standing on street corners. Their thumbs flying across the numbers. Are you a text wiz or low and old like me?

I was slow when i first started but then i got to be pretty fast at it too. I haven't had a cell phone for about 4 years now so I probably would be kind of slow. all though if i had a cell phone with a full keyboard i would probably be pretty quick lol. i spend a better part of my day typing so i should be pretty good at it.

Is not importing the speed of texting, is important what you have to say..

I always text people.I only receive calls, never call someone.
Considering that and the fact that I have had a cell phone for about 8 years or so, I believe I am pretty fast.I don't really need to look at the cell phone keypad.
But I was as slow as a snail to begin with, and used to make a lot of mistakes.
Like everything else in life, the more you do it the better you get at it.
So soon enough youngsters looking at you will have an inferiority complex, looking at how fast you type!
Happy myLotting!

i think i am quite good in text messaging because i get used to doing it already... i can type quite fast when i send text messages and i don't feel awkward at all... it just have to do with practice... the more you practice, the better you get in sending text messages... take care and have a nice day...

well i would say im both of it i am not that so fast in texting but neither slow also . But i guess when you practice yourself in texting while doing other things you would learn the rope of it and be good in it next time. So you better practice also.

Perhaps, you just got yourself a new cellphone. Oh I guess not. I think Canadians don't really text that often unlike Filipinos, we text more than call.
That is understandable. You just have to get used to it. In time you can text even without looking at your keypad.

I am not totally slow at it, but I'm not as fast as a typical teen either. I occasinally send a text message to my step-daughter in the States when I need to get a fast message there (it would be long distance to call from Canada), and sometimes I'll send a text home to my husband to receive on the computer (right to his e-mail account) if i want to just drop a quick message, without picking up the phone.

I'm getting quite good but I tell ya the kids have a secret. Somehow they are able to type whole words by hitting one letter. My daughter tried to show me how but my brain would not connect to the information.

You get faster as you do it and you automatically learn how many times to press the key to get to the right letter. It's like learning a new language, you have to press three times for C but only once for A and if you want B next, you have to wait until the cursor moves on to the next space, etc... Some of these kids are amazing, but then some of them have Blackberries or phones with QWERTY keyboards which really speed up the process. What truly amazes me is that they text even when they could just talk on the phone.

Yes i think you cna learn it so easy and fast in this sense you just to improve often to send text messages with your phone and normally after few days you will see that you would be very fast or even improved to send text messages when you are to the bus or when you are walking in the street!!
As regards me i think i am quite ok..so normally i can write sms quite faster even when i am out ..but it is time i use it so it is normal i became fast as well durin this time!!

well youll get faster as you get used to it. Well im not a habitual texter because i don't like the time you get your message and the telegraph feel and the emotionless feel of it so i often use my phone for calling.
My text speed is i think below average but a text is a text it really doesn't matter if your slow or not just that your messages get received

I am definitely a text wiz. Here in my country texting is a big thing with us. It is cheaper to text here than to call and people have a thing with texting. Everywhere you go people are holding there phones but majority of them are texting. People will only revert to calling when the person they have texted does not respond to them right away thus they call.

i've got text and pic messaging on my plan also. I've also got the
internet web browsing on my cell too. I text a lot of times only
to my contacts when my laptop is down. I love texting. I think that
it's a great way to keep in contact with people. I've had the internet
plan now for a little bit over a month, i think. and i just love it.
my text message limit is unlimited, so, there fore i've got all that i
can do on it. I'm with Alltel wireless right now, but, Verizon bought
Alltel, and we will be switching over to them by July the 11th according
to the news on Alltel's website. I did check the plans over there on
Verizon, and they've got this one package plan that has the text
messaging with it. It's like $69.99 a month, which, isn't bad. I'm going
to get it.
anyways, as I said before, I enjoy texting. I've got a camera phone and
i take a lot of pics of whatever and than I send them to my email on the
web. that's one thing that I love about it. :)
