TrueBlood the show or True Blood books?

Did anybody catch the season 2 premier for TrueBlood on HBO last night? LOVED IT! But, I'd have to say, I'm a little dissapointed at how far they are straying from the books. I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse novels and was so into them that I read for 2 weeks straight. The show is very entertaining but doesn't relate much to the books as far as characters and plot points. What does everybody else think? TV show or books?

BOTH! I love True Blood. That show is awesome. So, who do you think is ripping out people's hearts? I think that it might be now new breed of vampire.

I love the books and, therefore, I have the show. I really don't care that I should look at it as a separate entity; I can't. I want it to be just like the books. I think I'd probably like the show if I'd seen it before I read the books, but I just can't stand it now. I still watch it though. :P I haven't seen the new series premiere yet though. The books are definitely better, in my opinion. I'm not a big Bill fan but I think he looks idiotic in the show. I actually like Sam better in the show than in the books. If the show stuck closer to the books and had a little less gratuitous s@x, I'd like it better. I still watch it for Eric though. I adore him.

I'm afraid I've yet to read any of the books but I intend to look for them the first chance I get. I have a feeling most of those who read the books first will prefer them and those who watched the series first will prefer it. In what ways does the show not relate to the books? Let me know what to expect before I read them. Annie

I didn't even know there were books, lol. My cable provider gave us a free preview of the HBO channels this last weekend, so I watched the season 2 premiere of True Blood. I recently got into Twilight, and vampires and stuff, so I wanted to see what it was all about.

I love that series. I don't watch much tv, but am able to catch a show or two. I didn't realize that this was based on books. Now I'm going to have to get those! LOL, I'd much rather read than watch anyway because of what you said. When it gets to TV or a movie, it changes off the original storyline too much.

I have not seen the new episode yet, but plan on watching it tonight. It is a great series! I have not read the first book, but just starting to read the second one. So far the book is great and I will be interested to see how far it does stray from the book. I also come to expect that through. Anytimes a book gets made into a movie or TV show, it rarely sticks with it. But I do know that the books are almost always better. That does not mean I cannot appreciate the movie/show though. :)
