Well, yesterday was my birthday. I am officially 41 years old…and probably the only woman alive willing to admit her age. My Mom was horrified that I was telling ppl (family and neighbors) how old I really was LOL She kept telling me to say that I was only 38…she tells everyone she’s 39. I told her nope, I’m proud of being 41, it means that I’ve made it 41 years in this world which is a lot more then some make it.
Usually I don’t make a big deal over my birthday…I just want to get it over and done with. Yesterday was kind of an exception. I went to my Mom’s and we did bbq and had a nice long visit and I got to visit with one brother that I rarely see and a friend that I haven’t seen in ages. No cake and ice cream b/c of the whole diabetic thing but we did do baked potatoes on the grill and oh man are they good LOL I have a thing going for baked potatoes lately…I like mine with butter and sour cream on them.
Do you make a big deal out of your birthday? Do you lie about your age? What’s your favorite thing to put on baked potatoes??

Happy Birthday, a day late because I did not know ahead of time to tell you then. It's so nice that you had a beautiful day with family and an old friend.
I don't celebrate my birthdays. In fact as I remember the only birthday in my life that I got cake and ice cream was when I was 16 years old.
I am now 52 and Dec. 5th is just another day for me.
For baked potatoes I have just butter and a pinch of salt and some pepper. My husband on the other hand loves sour cream and butter, if he has bacon bites, olives, cheese, and bits of ham to put on his then that's the way he likes them. lol

Well happy belated birthday. Today is my mothers birthday and I am taking her out to lunch. We actually wanted to go to the casino but its over an hour drive and we aren't up for that drive. I hope you had a great birthday though.
To answer your other questions i never make big deal out of my birthdays. I am about to turn 22 and dont lie about my age. Bake potatoes are good but dont eat them often.

No I don't make a big deal out of my birthday or anniversary. I will be 35 on July 5th. I am not afraid to say my age either. It means we survived those years to fight through some more..I don't care for others knowing my age. Better for me to tell them then they try to guess and guess wrong especially if they think I am older then I am.

Hi twoey,
Where have you been? I've missed you. Happy Birthday Sweetie!! My Son just turned 29 on the 17th.
I think it is wonderful that you have pride in yourself and your accomplishments. I'm 59 and am not afraid to say so. People may judge me by my appearance but I don't care. I am who I am and other peoples judgments just don't matter. Like you, I'm happy for every single Birthday I have and I always want to celebrate.
As far as baked potatoes go, I like the works. Hugsssssss

Happy birthday to you TWOEY68!
I used to deny what my really age is when i reached 25. Imagine, im still that young but i hate to admit it already. Then I read this book titled Tuesdays with Moorie, and ive seen the movie too. There this one line in the book that hit me really hard " If you're always battling against getting older, you're always going to be unhappy, because it will happen anyhow."
Its true, from then on, im not ashamed to tell my friends how old i am..and staying happy.

I like having the family dinner and people around but My birthday isnt a big deal...now. I think the very first time (my 21st birthday) i didnt have my family with my on my birthday was a HUGE deal I was sad to be alone for it - they went on holidays with out me and i was stuck in school. But i learnt that i wouldnt die if i wasnt with someone on my b-day and that they still thought of me cause i got tons of calls.
Ok i admit i love the phone calls on my birthday too...its like a twice a year (once for my birthday and once for theirs) to catch up with family members i dont get a chance to talk to often.
I dont lie about my age sometimes i goof and tell people i'm a year older than i am...esp the months before my birthday because sometimes i forget how old i am and i think ok the year minus 1982 and thats the age i am...I've been telling people I'm 27 the past couple times theyve asked me and well really i have another two months left til i really am! but close enough.
My mom on the other hand has been 63 for the last 5 years...shes not but she loves peoples reaction and the DA MN you look good for your age responses.

CONGRAULATIONS on your day. Glad u had such a good time. I GOT U BEAT, I'LL BE 67 IN DEC. OMGOSH THAT SOUNDS ANCIENT, DOESN'T IT? It is ..My kids had a big bash for me when i turned 50 but haven't paid much attention to my birtday since then. They usually do take me out to eat. I to love baked potatoes but all i put on them is a bunch of butter. I do like wendy's w/broccoli & cheese but very seldom ever get one there, really don't know if they still have them. Ihope u have many more happy birtdays.

I've never been one to make a big deal out of my own birthday, it's just another day here too. I think that's mostly because my birthday is at the beginning of a month. All my likfe, my birthday went from being "next month" directly to being "today". There was no time to build up anticipation, even when I was little. When Christmas came around, when it was "this month", there was 25 days for anticipation to build up. I also find that older generations are touchier about age than ours is. There was a stigma of being old after 40 that just doesn't exist like it used to. We're more of the generation of "You're not getting older, you're getting better". So in light of that, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a friend who's just gotten one year better!

Hi again, I am 43, so you are not the only woman alive willing to admit to the age. But the thing is, people do not believe me when I tell. They say, no way, that can not be true. You do not look that old. So I get compliments for my age and looks. Now, it is not how you look that tell you the age, it is how you feel. I might not look or sounds over fourty, but I realy do feel like it sometimes. I also feel we tend to change values and things we like to do in some way.
With age, I think we also get more wiser. So there is no big deal with birthdays, you get one year older and get more wiser but also a bit more tired.
My favorite food for my birtday would be potatoe gratin. I love that with fresch ham/stew/own baked sallmon. mmm I love that.

Best belated wishes for your birthday! 41 years young and still having fun! It sounds like you had a lovely day,
I have no idea why people lie about their age. Speaking for myself if I am having a bad day and feel old, lying about it would make me feel worse.
I’m going to be 48 in a couple of weeks, mentally I feel like 20, physically….109! Just kidding... Maybe I am having too many baked potatoes...Yummm...I like sour cream or butter on mine and I wish I had some right now!

Belated happy birthday to you! Like you I'm not ashamed to admit how old I am, but then again, I'm only on my early twenties. But even when I reach the age of 41, I still wouldn't be ashamed of my age. I usually don't make a big deal out of my birthday. It's always just a family thing because I don't like big parties. I don't eat baked potato, though, so I don't know what people usually put on it.

Good for you!!!!! I am the same way I don't have a problem telling people my age either. I am 43 and proud of it. I have a beautiful grandaughter and proud of that to. My hardest birthday was 40. That was the year my grandaughter was born. Becoming 40 and a grandma the same year was a little hard. But I have enjoyed every day since. CONGRATS on your birthday and i pray you have many many more.
