I think a lot of it is the breed. My mine's had several great pyrenees' over the years, and man did they bark. They'd bark at leaves blowing in the grass. My dogs on the other hand, were mutts, shepherds and labs, and they only bark when there's a reason-someone at the door, another dog walking by, etc. I would try to figure out what breed(s) your dog is and see if they're common barkers.
As for what to do, well, I don't think there is much to do. Figure out what he's barking at, is something off? My little hunting mutt barks at rabbits in the yard. Or is he bored? Dog's get into so much stuff when they're bored. Try some toys or bones.

Our big dog was like that when we just transferred to a new house. The whole evening he was barking and you know how big dogs are. They can be very noisy because they have a big voice. However, after a few days, I think he had gotten adjusted to the place and he now barks when he wants attention. Your dog must be a labrador like what we have because labs always want attention. When you arrive, he wants you to notice him and give him some attention. When he is hungry or thirsty he won't stop barking until you give him food and water. I also notice that he barks or calls my attention after peeing. It means he wants me to clean the place.

What to do with a dog that won't shut up?
Have you tried throwing him a bone? He might be bored so maybe he would like for you to take him outside on walks occasionally. I don't know, you might have to call a vet and ask them what to do. I once had a dog and we kept him outside, he kept barking one day and would not shut up. So when I finally decided to go and check and see what was going on. There was a snake in the yard. The dog was barking to try to let me know that something wasn't right. Well that dog has passed on now and I really do miss her so much. You would not believe it. Yeah dogs can be a pest at times but other times they can really and truly be a woman's best friend. Also it might be barking because it might be in some kind of pain. If you suspect that is the case then take it to see a vet........... Take care Tamron, thanks for posting! Happy mylot

Do you mean he is always barking?.. Try to put something on his mouth. My friend put something in her dog's mouth so her dog cannot open his mouth. She only put it at night so her dog can bark in the morning and in the evening the dog will be quiet because if she will allow her dog to bark at night it become really hard for her to go back to sleep.
